Kate DeAngelis, Lexington's First Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Receives National Recognition | |

The Town of Lexington's Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Kate DeAngelis, has been awarded a 30 Under 30 distinction by the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) for 2024.
DeAngelis was chosen from over 100 professionals across 26 states to receive this year's award.
Melissa Battite, Director of Recreation and Community Programs, nominated DeAngelis for the award.
Over the last three years, DeAngelis has secured more than $75,000 in grant funding for Recreation and Community Programs.

Alert for Commuters: No Red Line Train Service to or from Alewife, 2/5 to 2/14 | |

There will be no Red Line train service to or from Alewife station starting on Monday, February 5.
From the start of the service until 8:45 PM, shuttle services will replace trains from Alewife to Harvard. After 8:45 PM, the halt in service will extend from Harvard to Park Street. Shuttle buses will replace service along that route as well.
The closure is expected to end on Wednesday, February 14.

- Use bus #77 at Arlington Heights and take it directly to the Harvard Red Line stop
- Use bus #78 which has one stop in east Lexington (Watertown at West Service Road)
- Use the Park & Ride at the MassDOT District 4 Office
(near the Lexington/Arlington line) and use bus #78

Lexington Recognizes Start of Black History Month | |
|
February is recognized every year as Black History Month.
This year, there are 24 banners displayed in Lexington Center -- honoring trailblazing black citizens who represent four centuries of contributions to American history and culture. They are doctors, lawyers, scientists, writers, farmers, soldiers, and orators.
The Association of Black Citizens of Lexington (ABCL) worked with the Department of Public Works to display the banners in Town.

On February 13, Cary Memorial Library is hosting a screening of "Beyond Their Years", a film highlighting the lives of sports and social justice icons, Herb Carnegie, and Buck O'Neil.

2023 was the hottest year on record, which only heightened the need to reduce carbon pollution to avoid overheating and reduce the risk of extreme weather.
As part of our climate action efforts, the Town launched LexElectrify, a campaign to empower our community to make a plan to electrify our homes, businesses, and modes of transportation—and make them more efficient.

Voter Registration Deadline Approaching for 2024 Local Election | |

The 2024 Annual Town Election will take place on Tuesday, March 5.
The deadline to register to vote in the 2024 Annual Town Election is Saturday, February 24 at 5:00 PM. The Clerk’s Office will be open on this date to facilitate this deadline.
Mail-In Voting
The Secretary of State has sent notifications to every registered voter not currently on the permanent absentee list to allow them the chance to vote by mail for the 2024 elections.
Mailers have been sent out to every household, but you can also print out the application on our website.
Please be sure to sign the bottom of the application before returning it to the Clerk's Office.
