The Town of Lexington is recognizing and celebrating the month of April as Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month. Take a look at the Lexington Select Board's official proclamation recognizing Autism Awareness Month.
Lexington Police
In honor of Autism Awareness/Acceptance, the Lexington Police Department will be displaying their very own Autism Acceptance Patch throughout the month of April. This patch represents the road to acceptance and the goal of empowering everyone in the Autism community to live fully.
You can receive your own patch when you donate $10 or more. All donations collected during the month of April will go to Team Verge, a non-profit inclusive running team that supports youth and young adults of all abilities.
Interested in getting a patch of your own? To donate and receive your patch, visit the Police Station or mail your donation to 173 Bedford Street, Lexington, MA, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Lexington Fire Department
The Lexington Fire Department will be rocking some new uniforms this month as well, promoting Autism Acceptance. The t-shirts were sold by Lexington Firefighters Local 1941 to raise money for LABBB Collaborative, a group that designs and delivers special education services promoting academic, social, and career independence.
The special t-shirt uniforms were approved for the month of April by Fire Chief Derek Sencabaugh.
