LINK TO HOPE NEWSLETTER
Kentucky CancerLink is a non-profit organization whose mission is to reduce and/or eliminate barriers to screening, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. We work alongside Kentuckians in need of life-saving cancer screenings or in need of support while on a cancer journey. We strive to be a link to hope...
Greetings from the Executive Director
Hi Friends,

May is a wonderful month for me. I have so many reasons to celebrate this month. My eldest son is turning 18 and graduating from high school. My youngest son is finishing the 8th grade. My husband and I are marking 24 years of marriage. I'm looking forward to all these events.

Our organization is also busy with many activities and opportunities for you to join us and be a link to hope and support our mission.

We are taking part in Kentucky Gives Day on Tuesday, May 9 - follow us on social media for more details. How about being a partner for a matching gift donation?

We are also trying to get partners to Fuel Hope and raise money for our program that gives fuel cards to cancer patients to help them get to their treatments. This is the most requested assistance we get and we consistently send out 100 $25 gas cards every month. We need your help to sustain this program.

We are also looking for sponsors for our amazing Links to Hope Golf Scramble that will happen later this year.

We can support Kentucky cancer patients because of the kindness of others. I'm always ready to answer any questions you have about our mission and how you can get involved. You can reach me at melissak@kycancerlink.org.

We want to keep serving as many people as we can. Thanks for being with us... #linktohope

Cheers!

Melissa
#KYGives23
On Tuesday, May 9, show your support for Kentucky CancerLink by donating to our mission to help us support Kentuckians in need of potential life-saving cancer screenings or those experiencing a cancer diagnosis. Feel free to use #KYGives23 in your social media posts too. Over the last few months, we've received a substantial number of referrals for transportation assistance, and the need has never been greater. A little adds up a lot and no amount is too small. Let's show KY how generous we are! Thank you for your support.

Out & About
Our program assistant, Syrena, and our director of community outreach, Melanie, were guests on the morning show on Fox 56 and had the chance to promote the KCL charity tennis & pickleball event the week prior to the event. Thanks to Fox 56 for the opportunity!
Our Link to Hope charity tennis & pickleball event was held on Friday, April 14 at the Lexington Tennis Club. Beginners, along with seasoned players, came together to support the mission of KCL! Thanks to everyone who joined us for this fun night. We raised over $3,000!
KCL staff enjoyed a fun team building lunch last month together at Goodwood Lexington. It was a great opportunity to spend some time together to foster an atmosphere of innovation, communication, and trust.
Melanie served as a guest speaker recently at the Pink Sisters breast cancer support group meeting on Thursday, Apr. 28th at the Woodford County Public Library in Versailles. We love sharing what we do and how we can help our communities. Reach out to us if you'd like us to share with your group.

Our director of community outreach, Melanie, attended Mt. Nebo Baptist Church's wellness fair in Louisville on Sat. Apr. 29th for a fun opportunity to fellowship and engage in important conversations with participants regarding cancer screenings and also the work that KCL is doing in communities across the Commonwealth.

Kentucky Hot Brown Dip

This delicious appetizer is a fun twist on the classic Kentucky Hot Brown sandwich made famous in the 1920's at the legendary Brown Hotel in downtown Louisville. This ooey, gooey cheesy dip is quick and easy to mix up and served in a bread bowl.

Non-Alcoholic Mint Julep

This is a refreshing recipe the whole family can enjoy. Using lemonade and ginger ale as two of the main ingredients, it's a delicious way to quench your thirst on the first Saturday in May. Serve in a chilled julep cup or a KY Derby glass with a sprig of mint and enjoy!

Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars

These delicious bourbon chocolate pecan pie bars are similar to the classic Kentucky Derby Pie that is a derby day must-have. These bars are packed with flavorful brown sugar, vanilla, pecans, & chocolate. Serve warm, right out the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and prepare to be impressed.
