In this issue:

June has arrived and with it comes the start of summer (the 21st is the Summer Solstice). It's also a month filled with some great holidays and time for family and friends.
On the 5th, we celebrate World Environment Day- and with increasingly dramatic weather, it's a day we can all get behind.

Limoneira's New Sustainability Video (part of our Sustainability Stories™ series), highlights important initiatives that the Company has undertaken to tread more lightly on the land.

It will be shown in the Sustainability Corner at the Produce Marketing Association's Food Service show in Monterey California in July.

Where would we be without our dedicated Dads....there should be more than one day a year to celebrate these guys, but on the 16th, they're nationally recognized, and Limoneira's Megan Roosevelt aka the Healthy Grocery Girl®  adds some creative twists to old favorites. Her Citrus Ginger Cold Brew and Lemon Glazed Donuts will pamper Dad on Father's Day.  (it's ok to splurge once in a while).

National Martini Day is June 19th and who doesn't love a great Lemon Drop? We'll be toasting big time in homage to this and to  National Hydration Day on June 23rd. Lemon water has a number of great benefits- not only hydration, but Ph balance, Vitamin C and so much more. Check out Limoneira's for details.
June is also the month of Graduation. Achievement and hard work are recognized and applauded and next steps, new phases, and personal growth are on the horizon for our graduates.

It's interesting to note that ceremonies for graduating students date from the first universities in Europe in the twelfth century. At that time Latin was the language of scholarship. A "universitas" was a guild of masters (MAs) with license to teach.

"Degree" and "graduate" come from gradus, meaning "step". The first step was admission to a bachelor's degree. The second step was the masters step, giving the graduate admission to the universitas and license to teach. Typical dress for graduation is gown and hood, or hats adapted from the daily dress of university staff in the Middle Ages, which was in turn based on the attire worn by medieval clergy.

Limoneira Mix and Match Bags Named Finalist for Best New Packaging at United Fresh in Chicago

Similar to wine pairings, each lemon variety has a predominant flavor profile that pairs with certain foods and beverages. This was communicated to consumers using Limoneira's Mix and Match promotion with recipes for Limoneira Classic, Pink and Meyer Lemons featured on colorful resealable stand-up pouches.
We were thrilled to be named as a finalist for the best new packaging award at United Fresh in Chicago for this fun packaging

We will be on hand to welcome visitors (at Booth #10030) to describe this program along with our other new packaging (Organic 2lb bag, new Organic 40lb carton, new 2lb, and 5lb Orange bags and a new 1lb Meyer Resealable pouch).

We will also be discussing our new Take a Healthy Stand™ campaign which we will be rolling out to our grocery retail and foodservice customers. Lemons are healthy and delicious. They contain a high amount of vitamin C, soluble fiber and plant compounds that give them a number of health benefits.
Take a Healthy Stand™ will highlight the important differences that Limoneira lemons can make in potentially reducing the risk of serious disease such as cancers, diabetes, liver disease as well as helping to achieve desired outcomes (healthy hair and skin for example).
The growth of functional foods is set to outpace the growth of conventional foods around the world-across both developed and emerging markets globally.
Three-fourths of U.S. consumers believe healthy foods and beverages can be used to increase the quality of their lives, In addition, more than a quarter of Americans believe functional foods and beverages can be used in place of some medicines

TASTIRotating Tasti-Tuesday Videos on West Coast Expo Farm/Packinghouse tour of the Coachella Valley

On May 9 Produce Buyers attending the West Coast Produce Expo were able to view looping 1-minute Limoneira Tasti Tuesday Videos showcasing fun/easy/informative ways to use limoneira citrus in great recipes. Our videos were shown 15 times over the course of the morning luxury bus tour of the Coachella Valley.

The produce industry has demonstrated a significant interest in engaging buyers and sellers at regional events. These events have become popular because of the limited investment of time and money required for participation, the depth of conversation created in a more intimate atmosphere, and the regional focus.

The West Coast has always produced the nations' greatest concentration of fresh produce, while also boasting 47 of the nation's largest retail headquarters.  With a total of nearly 400 Retail Chains, 2,200 retail single units, 500 wholesalers, and 1,000 Foodservice Distributors,  Limoneira's participation in the West Coast Produce Expo was a great investment in building valuable relationships.
