y
, will explore the vital role music played in the fight against slavery, as well as encouraging the march towards freedom and equality in the 1960s. In Lift Every Voice, Avis Berry will perform many of the empowering songs of the African American experience. The performance starts at 6 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public, and will be held outside in the Capitol Courtyard. Seating is available or bring your own chair or blanket to enjoy the show.
