A new year means new opportunities. Our founder, Carrie Nelson Black, started LifeCare Alliance 125 years ago to meet people right where they live and bring much-needed healthcare to their front doors. I hope you will celebrate with us all year long as we continue Carrie's mission. In addition to some special anniversary events that will happen this year, this edition shares a few practical ways to celebrate this special milestone!
Support through Giving!
Did you know that, each year, charitable support makes up 25-30% of our budget? Thanks to the many generous individuals and companies supporting our mission, we continue to accept new clients who need us every day!
Did you know that you can help continue Carrie’s legacy by becoming a monthly donor in 2023? Your scheduled donation each month provides sustainable funding to deliver nutritious meals, daily visits, and pet food for their companion animals, or offer hope and support to clients and families fighting cancer, and even provide life-changing resources for children and teens living with diabetes.
- A monthly donation of $10.45 adds up to $125 per year (in honor of our anniversary) and can cover:
- in-home services for a homebound older adult for one month
- groceries for one month for a family battling cancer
- one mammogram screening for an uninsured or underinsured client.
- Upgrade your donation to $100 per month for $1200 per year and you'll become a member of our Spirit Society and expand your impact even further.
I hope you will consider making your first gift in 2023 - or renewing your support in 2023! Click below to start your monthly giving now, or contact Carrie Burson, Director of Development, at 614-437-2848 for more information.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT
Meals-on-Wheels
|
|
This year LifeCare Alliance marks 50 years of being the Meals-on-Wheels provider in central Ohio - half a century of meeting our neighbors right where they live, in their own homes and communities. What started in Franklin County in 1973 expanded into Madison, Marion, Champaign, and Logan counties over the past two decades, as these additional counties found themselves in need of a Meals-on-Wheels provider. LifeCare Alliance stepped in, saving this critical service for central Ohioans.
Delivering a nutritious meal right to thousands of neighbors across five counties, this service makes it possible for central Ohio seniors to remain safe, independent, and living in their own homes - right where they want to be.
-
Meet active senior Mary Jo, who recently encountered some health challenges. We delivered the solution right to her home with Meals-on-Wheels to ensure she had access to nutritious food during her recovery. When she was back on her feet, she rejoined her friends at Carrie's Café dining center!
-
Pat in Champaign County, 86, realized that her daily routine had become a bit too difficult, her children signed her up for Meals-on-Wheels. We delivered the extra help she needed, right to her home. With her daily meal preparation handled, she has more time to enjoy what she loves - baking!
Here's to the next 50 years of delivering nutrition and support to central Ohio neighbors!

Support through Volunteering!
Looking for a New Year’s resolution that you'll enjoy keeping this year? Volunteer with LifeCare Alliance! What you give to the community, you'll receive tenfold in return. You'll have the opportunity to:
- meet new and likeminded people
- feel a sense of purpose and satisfaction, which even builds self-esteem
- discover new pastimes to share with friends and family
- learn about the needs of our neighbors, and be a changemaker in your community.
Still on the fence? Rest assured that we offer a variety of ways to volunteer that fit any schedule--from Meals-on-Wheels routes, to food preparation in the kitchen, to stocking the Groceries-to-Go pantry.
So this year, resolve to volunteer and Nourish the Human Spirit. You'll become a critical part of our efforts to serve all those in need without waiting lists and regardless of ability to pay. But don't take our word for it - take it from Corey, a dedicated volunteer and recent Spirit Award winner. Corey says, "Sign up to volunteer! It will enhance your life in so many ways - not to mention the value that you bring to your community."

|
If you're a new volunteer, please complete our online application - you'll start the process in less time than it takes to sign up for a gym membership!
If you're just waiting for the perfect time to start volunteering, look no further! Many Meals-on-Wheels routes await a volunteer, especially over Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. So claim your holiday Meals-on-Wheels route now!
