Crab Feed Dishes Up a Good Time!
|
|
Last month, nearly 250 alumnae, parents and friends packed McAuley pavilion for this year’s Crab Feed at Mercy, raising more than $16,000 for our students. Guests were served the best crab in the City by Mercy students and enjoyed a balloon pop raffle, performances by the Mercy Choir, a photo booth, and more! The energy in McAuley Pavilion was infectious and the evening was filled with incredible company as laughs were shared and memories were made by all.
We are so proud to have such dedicated Mercy supporters in our community! With each Mercy event you attend, you are contributing to our students' education and the vitality of our school. We cannot thank you enough!

Courage and Spirit Assembly
The 2019 Courage and Spirit Assembly is organized in partnership with The Helen and Joe Farkas Center and centers around refugees. The first half hour of the assembly will honor Mr. Ralph Samuels, a survivor from the refugee program, Kindertransport, which brought 10,000 German and Austrian Jewish children, without their parents, to England following the vicious pogrom of November 1938 known as Kristallnacht. After Mr. Samuels' brief remarks, the students, staff, and guests will go to one of four different panels featuring the testimony of refugees
—many with Mercy connections
—who have survived other human rights crises around the world.
There will be speakers from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. They will be hosted and moderated by students as well as alumnae (
Danni Biondini '04, Molly Robertson '06, Adrienne Nahass Shatara '06, Jessica Fisher Chimento '08, Sindy Vasquez-Vela '08, Sydney Dow '09 and Ashlley Vasquez-Vela '11) who have been immersed in and/or have been studying the historical context of their stories. These presentations will be followed by our annual All-Survivors luncheon in Rist Hall, where many Holocaust and survivors of these other crises will gather and break bread together, hosted by a delegation of students and staff.
Date: Tuesday, March 26
Time: 9:30 a.m.
Location: Mercy High School
Cost: Free
RSVP to Georgia Wasley, Alumnae Development Officer, at
gwasley@mercyhs.org if you are interested in attending the assembly and/or luncheon. Space is limited.
