Mendoza '18 Writes About
Enterprise for Youth
Impact
Katalina Mendoza '18 was recently the mistress of ceremonies at Enterprise for Youth’s
2nd Annual Heroes at Work event and wrote a compelling article about the impact Enterprise has had on her life. Her parents, Ezequiel Mendoza and
Rosa Perrupato Mendoza '81 couldn’t be prouder!
Sometimes all a person needs is someone or something to give them that "push" to continue thriving and to always speak your truth. For me, Enterprise was that "push" to continue growing and gave me the space to craft the person who I will be in the future. - Katalina '18

Alumnae Living Out Mercy's Mission
|
|
A project called Nuns and Nones moved religion-free millennials into a convent with Sisters of Mercy in Burlingame, many of whom are Mercy graduates. The New York Times covered this interesting project where the “nones” — progressive millennials, moved into the Sisters’ convent for 6 months. Said one of the participants, “These are radical, badass women who have lived lives devoted to social justice. And we can learn from them.” Some of the participating Sisters are Mercy alumnae
Sr. Janet Rozzano '56,
Sr. Judy Carle '58, and
Sr. Diane Clyne '63. Sr. Judy guided the original Nuns and Nones pilot program and now the program is running groups in about a dozen cities including Grand Rapids, MI, Minneapolis, New York City, and Boston.

How do you live out Mercy’s mission every day?
What values from Mercy are you bringing to your community? How do you address the critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy—volunteering in your church community, donating time to the homeless, assisting as a mentor, advocating for the marginalized and disenfranchised?
We want to share your “Mercy” to inspire others to do the same!
Please share your story for
Mercy In Our World by emailing Georgia Wasley '09, Alumnae Development Officer, at
gwasley@mercyhs.org.

Mercy Girls Today
Student News & Events, For You!
|
|
This summer, join the student body for the all-school read,
Undaunted, an inspiring and powerful memoir of surviving the Jonestown massacre and becoming a fearless voice against injustice and inequality by California congresswoman Jackie Speier.
Overview:
Jackie Speier was twenty-eight when she joined Congressman Leo Ryan’s delegation to rescue defectors from cult leader Jim Jones’s Peoples Temple in Jonestown, Guyana. Ryan was killed on the airstrip tarmac. Jackie was shot five times at point-blank range. While recovering from what would become one of the most harrowing tragedies in recent history, Jackie had to choose: Would she become a victim or a fighter? The choice to survive against unfathomable odds empowered her with a resolve to become a vocal proponent for human rights.
From the formative nightmare that radically molded her perspective and instincts to the devastating personal and professional challenges that would follow, Undaunted reveals the perseverance of a determined force in American politics. Deeply rooted in Jackie’s experiences as a widow, a mother, a congresswoman, and a fighter, hers is a story of true resilience, one that will inspire other women to draw strength from adversity in order to do what is right—no matter the challenges ahead.
Buy your own copy of
Undaunted and support Mercy through AmazonSmile by using
