The Hard Copy or Digital Program Guide for March & April

SSPL prints limited quantities of our Program Guide, which covers two months of programming at a time. This option is for those who wish to have a physical document highlighting our offerings. If you are comfortable with an online format, we encourage you to help us conserve resources by choosing that option, and visiting our online link to the guide or our Events Calendar at www.sspl.org. There, you will find additional programming details, and if required, have the ability to register.

Growing Towards Sustainability

SSPL Launching Seed Library in April

The Saratoga Springs Library is thrilled to announce the launch of its Seed Library initiative, set to debut on April 11, 2024, exclusively for residents of the Saratoga Springs City School District. The collection will then be made available to all library patrons starting the following day, April 12, 2024.

Households will be able to select from a diverse array of seeds, and are eligible to take home up to 9 packets containing ample seeds to cultivate a small selection of plants.

Thanks to generous contributions from Hudson Valley Seed Co. and High Mowing Seeds through their donation programs, the library is proud to offer these seeds free of charge. The library aims to enhance access to locally grown produce, address food insecurity issues, and foster a spirit of experimentation in gardening.

We're excited to provide our community with the resources to explore gardening and sustainable food practices. The Seed Library aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver resources and experiences that engage, entertain, educate, and empower our entire community. For more information, click this link.

Food for Friends

The Friends of Saratoga Springs Public Library are excited to announce their upcoming food donation drive in partnership with Franklin Community Center (FCC), and invite you to become involved! The FCC food pantry has become a much needed resource to those in our area that experience food insecurity, providing assistance for an average of 325 families (or a total of 1,150 individuals) monthly.

As volunteers and members of the Saratoga community, the Friends believe in the power of collective action to make a positive impact. That's why they're launching Food for Friends, a food donation drive to support those in need. By promoting and participating, you'll be helping to provide essential food items to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

Here's how you can get involved:

  • Donate non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, hygiene items, and more.
  • Spread the word about the food donation drive within your network and encourage others to participate.
  • Volunteer your time to help collect, sort, and distribute donations.

Together, we can make a difference and ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food. Let's work together to create a stronger, more resilient community for all.

Please feel free to reach out to our Friends with any questions at hello@fsspl.org.
