Your Library has PRIDE
It's PRIDE Month and your library is proud to offer patrons several ways to recognize and celebrate diversity, and support the LGBTQ+ community. This June, we invite teens to attend one of our PRIDE themed Crafternoons, as well as visit our online Rainbow Book List. Adults (and teens) are encouraged to join our monthly Read With Pride book discussion group or check out our corresponding LibGuide. Don't forget to check out our collection and stop by the SSPL table at Saratoga Pride's upcoming Pride Festival from 2 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd in High Rock Park.

Making Local History
Saratoga Springs and the Belmont Stakes
If you're looking to learn more about Saratoga and its history in thoroughbred racing or the upcoming Belmont Stakes, we encourage you to visit the Saratoga Room on the 2nd floor of the library. The Saratoga Room is home to a premier collection of primary sources that chronicle the rich history of the City of Saratoga Springs. From rare books and photographs to maps and manuscripts, the Saratoga Room offers a unique opportunity to explore the heritage and evolution of the region. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a student, or a researcher, the Saratoga Room is a valuable resource for delving into the past and uncovering the stories that have shaped the community. Growing Towards Sustainability
Get Outside with Your Library
June is a wonderful time to go outside and enjoy nature. Doing activities that use your senses can help you feel closer to the natural world. Even small activities like listening to birds, touching tree bark, or smelling flowers can make you appreciate nature more.
The library has programs and items you can borrow to help you connect with nature. You can borrow an Empire Pass, which lets you go to most New York State Parks for free. We also have backpacks and binoculars that can be checked out from our Library of Things collection.
If you enjoy gardening, you can connect with nature in your own space. Whether you have a small garden on your windowsill or a bigger one in your yard, SSPL has free seeds in our Seed Library, as well as tools to help you get started.
And don't forget about our upcoming programs with our community partners, like the Karner Blue Walk at Wilton Wildlife Preserve and Park, the opportunity to tune up your bike with the Bikeatoga Mobile Repair Vehicle, and Story Time with the Sunflower Sprout Society at Pitney Meadows Community Farm.
