Home Delivery: Library Service for Homebound Patrons
In a new collaboration with the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO), the library is relaunching the home delivery program for all temporarily and permanently homebound library patrons. Deliveries will be made on a set monthly schedule to patrons residing within Los Alamos County. Library staff are available to serve as personal "book concierges", selecting and preparing materials for delivery, and LARSO volunteers will deliver the materials to the front door.
Please contact Eva Jacobson for more information at 505-663-1812 or eva.jacobson@lacnm.us

Narrative Nonfiction Picks From Our Adult Nonfiction Collection
Narrative or creative nonfiction books bring a novel-like style and storytelling element to factual stories. These works can be selected by choosing an area of interest in fiction, and then choosing a narrative nonfiction piece in the same subject area. Start with some of the suggestions below, or ask a librarian for more help finding new reads. Find an intro to nonfiction reading here and more narrative nonfiction suggestions here.

Wednesday, September 18th, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Mesa Public Library
Having trouble finding time to read? Looking to spend an evening with other book-lovers without any demands or effort on your part? There's a book club that is new to the library, and we're not keeping quiet about it!
Join us every 3rd Wednesday of the month for the Silent Library Club. Bring any book (or borrow one!) and we will sit together in silence to read. Prefer to knit, play a game of solitaire, or stare at the ceiling? We welcome you to sit quietly with us.
How it works: Come to the library's upper level rotunda and find a cozy place to sit. At 6:30pm we go silent and begin reading. At 7:30pm, we invite quiet discussions for those who wish to share their books, stories, or ideas.
Get all the info about the club in our event calendar.

Thursday, October 3rd, from 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Mesa Public Library
Española mayor, Hon. John Ramon Vigil will sit down at the Mesa Public Library for a discussion about being a young hispanic leader during Hispanic Heritage Month at the Los Alamos Public Library.
As the youngest person to serve on the Espñola city council at age 22, and later elected Mayor at 26, Vigil has been a part of the evolving culture and heritage of young hispanics in northern New Mexico. We will discuss bringing his fresh new ideas and perspectives to his positions in government while holding on to his heritage and cultural traditions.
The 2024 National Hispanic Heritage Month theme is "Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together." Visit the Mesa Public Library or White Rock Branch Library and ask a librarian to find titles that speak to this important perspective.
Learn more about this discussion in our calendar.
