Beginning April 9, 2021, the Newhope Public Library will be reopening to the public with expanded hours Monday-Friday from 10 am-6 pm. Newhope Library has been busy receiving various upgrades and improvements that youth and residents of all ages will be sure to enjoy. These upgrades include:

  • An improved collection with age appropriate content for children and young adults.
  • New library furniture featuring designs and colors that are fun and attractive for children and youth.
  • A media lab featuring cutting edge technology for youth activities and STREAM (science, technology, reading, engineering, art, mathematics) based programming.

Library Services During COVID-19
  • Limited building occupancy.
  • Grab and go services, including browsing the collection, checking out materials, and picking up holds.
  • Public computers with Internet access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Printing, copying, and scanning.
  • First come, first served walk-up service, and computer appointments are available.

In collaboration with the City IT department, the Santa Ana Public Library will launch the outdoor Express Computer Center at the Main Library on April 9, 2021. The Express Computer Center will offer the following services free of charge for Santa Ana library cardholders: Computer access, printing, scanning, and copying service. For additional information, please contact the Main Library at 714-647-5250.

Take your mind off stressors with a take-and-make craft! This Earth Day, upcycle a bottle from home by making a sensory bottle. Sensory bottles are a fun and helpful tool to increase focus and regulate emotions. This is an all-ages program and that is highly recommended for neuro-diverse youth. No registration is required. Take-ad-make kits are available from April 19th-23rd, 2021 while supplies last.

The City of Santa Ana’s Public Works Agency, in collaboration with West Coast Arborists, Inc, will be handing out Fern Pine seedlings as part of the festivities. The City of Santa Ana is proud to announce that it has been named Tree City USA for 22 consecutive years by The Arbor Day Foundation for its dedication in maintaining the City’s urban forest of over 50,000 street trees. Starting Monday, March 1st, 2021, every Monday and Wednesday, the Friends of The Library (FOSAPL) will be setting up a free book cart accessible to the public who visit the library for curbside pickup.
