The wide array of programs at the Edgartown Library are funded in large part by the Friends of the Edgartown Free Public Library. The Friends are a volunteer organization whose mission is to raise funds and support the library and its programs. [Online] 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group

If you are seeking a new career direction, unemployed, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "encore career", this networking group is perfect for you!


Join us every first and third Wednesday of the month for a professional networking forum conducted in a safe and comfortable environment that's conducive to developing new relationships and developing skills and strategies to help in your career transition. Meetings include a presentation and hands-on workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, small group breakout rooms to network, and one-on-one coaching guidance. This program will continue through June, and there will be a new topic covered in each session.

[In Person] Vinyasa Power Yoga (all levels)

A Vinyasa class that is therapeutic, creative, and powerful. Vinyasa (a practice designed to help you heal while keeping you in peak physical shape) incorporates elements of strength building, making it a dynamic experience. If you have a yoga mat, please bring it with you. The library will have a limited number of mats available for use. All levels are welcome; each pose is guided from the foundation to the full expression.

[Online] Dirtbag, Massachusetts: A Special Event and Discussion with Author Isaac Fitzgerald

Isaac Fitzgerald has lived many lives. He's been an altar boy, a bartender, a smuggler, a biker, and a prince of New England. But before all that, he was a bomb that exploded his parents' lives - or so he was told. In his memoir Dirtbag, Massachusetts, Fitzgerald recounts with warmth and humor his ongoing search for forgiveness, a more far-reaching vision of masculinity, and a more expansive definition of family and self. This discussion will be moderated by Daniel Ford, host of The Writer's Bone Podcast.

[In Person] Dough Series: Scallion Pancakes, with Chef Look

Saturday, March 11

Chef Look is back again with another new take on classic dumpling dough. Versatile doughs are a great thing to learn since they can be used for so many delicious treats. Chef Look will show you how to take a simple hot water dumpling dough and use a technique called laminating to create a delicious and oniony layered treat. Scallions add a wonderful texture and flavor to this classic snack food beloved by many throughout Asia. We’ll explore two techniques for cooking our pancakes and we'll also whip up a quick dipping sauce that goes great with everything.

Join Sonja Josephson (founder of Seasons of Life Ayurveda) and Jacqueline Foster (Ayurvedic Chef and founder of Food That Resonates) for a workshop exploring daily rituals that can improve your health and well-being.


In this workshop, we will explore simple Ayurvedic daily rituals to cultivate a healthier and happier life. Dinacharya is the Sanskrit term for daily routines which, when practiced regularly, can support well-being and longevity. We will dive into setting up morning and evening rituals that will support a balanced lifestyle, and you'll leave with the knowledge needed to create your own routine.

[Online] Chef Look Cooks: Scallion Pancake Pizza

If you like crispy thin-crust pizza or delicious hoisin BBQ beef, then get ready as Chef Look smashes them both together to form the ultimate snack time dish. He’ll be demonstrating how to make a classic dumpling dough that he will transform into beautiful scallion pancakes through an oil layering technique called laminating. He’ll top them with a spicy aioli, grilled hoisin beef, cheese, and an array of colorful accouterments to make a flavor-packed snack that is sure to satisfy your hunger.

[In Person] Mending for Sustainability

Whether you’re a stitching master or have never sewn before, come and join the EPL’s monthly mending club. This group is perfect for anyone looking for ways to extend the life of their favorite denim, get a few more seasons out of their coziest sweater, or generally contribute to sustainability by making sure their clothes don't end up in landfills. We will have a large array of mending and sewing supplies available for use, several how-to books for guidance, and expertise from longtime sewers. All experience levels are welcome.

Volunteers (certified and trained under the AARP Tax Aide Program) will be offering free income tax preparation assistance at the library for taxpayers, with a special emphasis on those sixty years and older.

Build it; Build it Better: Poetry Workshops

In poet Donald Nitchie’s writing workshop, participants will have an opportunity to build a poem prompted and inspired by poetry that Donald will choose for the exercise. Poets will also have a chance to submit a poem or two of their own for the group to read and discuss during the second half of the workshop. Positive peer assessment can help you through a writing problem and give you a new perspective on your work. Once registered, you will be emailed the workshop materials.

[In Person] The Ayurvedic Spice Rack: Common Pantry Herbs As Medicine

In Ayurveda, it is taught that all spices and herbs have certain innate qualities to them. Sonja Josephson (founder of Seasons of Life Ayurveda) and Jacqueline Foster (Ayurvedic Chef and founder of Food That Resonates) will be teaching about common herbs that can be used to heal. From the black pepper grinder that gets a lot of love, to the cardamom jar that sits in the back of the pantry, we can learn to apply these common household spices as medicine. Together we will craft an uplifting and invigorating spring spice blend that you can take home.

Starting April 11

Led by Edgartown resident Deb Daley, this book club will explore literature that may shift your perspective or help you consider an alternate viewpoint. The club will meet on the second Tuesday of every month. April's selection is The Measure by Nikki Erlick, a novel in which the author asks a simple but irresistible question: If you had the choice, would you want to know how long you had to live?

Library Book Boxes

A monthly library subscription service

Want to find your next good book, plus get some cool items to keep? Sign up for the library's monthly subscription box for kids and teens ages 8 and older. Here's how it works:


  1. Fill out the subscription form on our website (the form will go live on March 15, with limited signups available).
  2. Wait. This is the hard part! Subscriptions will be filled at the beginning of each month.
  3. Pick up your Book Box at the library. Participants will receive an email when their box is ready for pickup. Each box will contain two library materials, and the rest is yours to keep.
  4. Return the library materials after a month, then fill out a new form to sign up for the next month!

Story Walk at Sheriff’s Meadow Sanctuary

The Edgartown Library and Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation have partnered to bring you a story walk every month.

This self-guided activity takes place at the Sheriff's Meadow Sanctuary and is for children of all ages and their caregivers.

Inkjet Cartridge Recycling Program
Support our local Vineyard League by recycling ink jet cartridges. The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard has drop boxes for collecting used printer inkjet cartridges in all six towns, including at the Edgartown Library. Cartridges are sent to a recycler, keeping them out of landfills. Please note, inkjet cartridges are the only kind that can be accepted.
