CLAMS Announcement

CLAMS Libraries will soon unveil a new catalog to enhance and enrich your experience: Aspen. Aspen will be replacing the current Encore catalog, but your library card number, reading history, and other account settings will remain the same. Click here for more details.

[In Person] Speechcraft: A Multi-Session Intro to Public Speaking, with Cheryl Burns

Speechcraft is a workshop series that will help you develop your presentation skills through practice and by studying the materials provided. Participants will gain confidence in all aspects of communication, including written and impromptu speeches, body language, and active listening.


Registration is required and space is limited. Please note, your registration is a commitment to attend all the workshops in the series.


Workshop dates are February 7, February 14, and February 21.

Colleen Macsuga leads a Vinyasa class that is therapeutic, creative, and powerful. Vinyasa (a practice designed to help you heal while keeping you in peak physical shape) incorporates elements of strength building, making it a dynamic experience. If you have a yoga mat, please bring it with you. The library will have a limited number of mats available for use. All levels are welcome; each pose is guided from the foundation to the full expression.

If you are seeking a new career direction, unemployed, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your "encore career", this networking group is perfect for you!


Join us every first and third Wednesday of the month for a professional networking forum conducted in a safe and comfortable environment that's conducive to developing new relationships and developing skills and strategies to help in your career transition. Meetings include a presentation and hands-on workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, small group breakout rooms to network, and one-on-one coaching guidance. This program will continue through June, and there will be a new topic covered in each session.

[Online] Chef Look Cooks: Butternut Squash Lasagne

It’s a double dose of pasta fun this month with Chef Look (see our Dough Series, below). Join him virtually in his home kitchen as he takes pasta-making to the next level with this delicious layered delight. Based on a classic dish some may remember from a long-since-closed Edgartown family Italian restaurant, this butternut squash lasagne will be a big hit with everyone at the table. The richness of local butternut accented by soft ricotta and layered with your own homemade pasta sheets is sure to impress.

[In Person] Film Screening and Discussion with Filmmaker Len Morris: Butterfly, Butterfly

For the past 30 years, filmmaker Len Morris has been filming stories about children on every continent and across the US while observing the changes that have occurred (for better or worse) in children's human rights. Butterfly, Butterfly features never seen footage that gives a snapshot of how we treat children as a society, a look at the future, and a measure of the gains made through advocacy. This film is a personal salute to the beauty and resilience of children. The film will be followed by a discussion with director Len Morris and producer Petra Lent.

[In Person] Dough Series: Pasta Making with Chef Look

It was so much fun the first time, Chef Look decided to make it a series! This month, participants will continue their journey through the world of dough as we tackle another “hard to deal with" dough: pasta. Join Chef Look in-person at the library as we take a look at some different methods for making and rolling pasta dough. You’ll get to taste the difference between three different rolling methods, and we’ll provide ingredients for you to make your own batch of dough that you can roll out at home.

[Online] The Harlem Renaissance: Courage, Grace, and Vision, with Janet Mandel

The Harlem Renaissance was the beginning of an explosion of creativity that transformed not only African American identity and history, but also American culture as a whole. Never before had so many people of all backgrounds been exposed to the black community’s thoughts, expressions, and style in art, literature, music, dance, and theater. This talk will introduce you to many of the inspiring artists who produced some of these astonishing and ground-breaking works.

[In Person] Mending for Sustainability

Whether you’re a stitching master or have never sewn before, come and join the EPL’s monthly mending club. This group is perfect for anyone looking for ways to extend the life of their favorite denim, get a few more seasons out of their coziest sweater, or just generally contribute to sustainability by making sure their clothes don't end up in landfills. We will have a large array of mending and sewing supplies available for use, several how-to books for guidance, and expertise from longtime sewers. All experience levels are welcome.

[In Person] Open Mic Night at EPL

Calling all performance artists, musicians, and poets! The Edgartown Library will be hosting an open mic night on the last Wednesday of every month. This will be a space to practice, encourage, and connect with other artists. Come work on the performance of a new song, practice a monologue for an upcoming play, or tell a story you would like to share; there will even be room for movement to perform a dance piece. Or just come to watch, listen, support, and connect with our creative community. Performances will be capped at 8 minutes.

Volunteers (certified and trained under the AARP Tax Aide Program) will be offering free income tax preparation assistance for taxpayers here at the library, with a special emphasis on those sixty years and older.

Kids can get their bodies moving on Wednesday afternoons in the Program Room. This after-school youth fitness program will offer healthy activities incorporating simple cardio, agility, and mind over matter drills. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Library Book Boxes

A monthly library subscription service

Book boxes are back! Want to find your next good book, plus get some cool items to keep? Sign up for the library's monthly subscription box for kids and teens ages 8 and older. Here's how it works:


  1. Fill out the subscription form on our website (the form will go live on February 15, with limited signups available).
  2. Wait. This is the hard part! Subscriptions will be filled at the beginning of each month.
  3. Pick up your Book Box at the library. Participants will receive an email when their box is ready for pickup. Each box will contain two library materials, and the rest is yours to keep.
  4. Return the library materials after a month, then fill out a new form to sign up for the next month!

Story Walk at Sheriff’s Meadow Sanctuary

The Edgartown Library and Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation have partnered to bring you a story walk every month.

This self-guided activity takes place at the Sheriff's Meadow Sanctuary and is for children of all ages and their caregivers.

Inkjet Cartridge Recycling Program
Support our local Vineyard League by recycling ink jet cartridges. The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard has drop boxes for collecting used printer inkjet cartridges in all six towns, including at the Edgartown Library. Cartridges are sent to a recycler, keeping them out of landfills. Please note, inkjet cartridges are the only kind that can be accepted.
