Volume XXIV | March 2024

A letter from our Alumni,

Ann Tramontin Bruggeman '93

Father John Moriarty and Ann Tramontin Bruggeman '93, Christ the King Principal, greets the CKS students!

I can vividly remember my first day of kindergarten at Christ the King School. I was the youngest child in my family, and I had waited, what felt like forever, to go to school with my brother and sister. I was excited yet scared with the newness of being a student. My teacher eased my fears and made me feel right at home.

From that point forward, Christ the King and then Lexington Catholic have been like second homes to me. My years in Catholic education prepared me not only academically, but spiritually for my journey through life. The friendships and relationships I built during those years have continued to impact my life in so many ways. They set the stage for a great college experience and the love of my educational experience, brought me straight back to working at LCHS, in the science department, upon college graduation.

Spending 24 years at Lexington Catholic helped me to see, from behind the scenes, what goes into building a great private Catholic school. The teachers, staff, administrators that I have been blessed to work alongside have shown nothing but true dedication to the schools and students with which they work. Teachers are the heart of every school.

No one could fully understand what an honor it was, for me, to accept the principal's position at Christ the King School in 2021.  Being able to lead a school that had helped form me into the person and educator that I have become has been the greatest gift. Giving back to a place that gave so much to me is a privilege. I pray every day that I do it the justice it deserves.

When I started as principal at Christ the King, one of the first people to congratulate me was my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Lucy Owen (Mrs. Farris to me in 1980). The fact that she remembered me and reached out is a perfect example of just one of the many gifts of Catholic education... lifelong relationships.
