When I look back on the past 35 years of my life and the time I have spent at Lexington Catholic as a teacher, coach, and student I can’t help but think of the relationships that I have been fortunate enough to be a part of. So many people have influenced my life that I have met because of my time at Lexington Catholic. I met my lovely wife, Kate, visiting one of my best friends who graduated with me. One of my teammates is coaching with me, my best friends are all people whom I graduated with in 1992. Relationships I have with Danny Haney, Tommy Huston, and Bill Hostetler who have helped guide me through my coaching career. Relationships with wonderful people like Ms. Sally Stevens, who taught me to be a caring teacher. The inspiring people who taught me (RIP BATSON). The incredible people that I work with day in and day out. The teachers that continue to amaze me with their dedication to continuing the tradition of excellence Lexington Catholic has come to symbolize. The assistant coaches that have helped me through the years. The long-lasting friendships that have come from a funny story or hard work together. Perhaps the most important relationship though is the one with my students and players. The casual “Hey Coach” from a past player or student always gains a measure of pride in my heart. Being able to be a part of so many young people’s lives is an awesome privilege. Watching them become doctors, teachers, coaches, and business leaders brings a strong sense of accomplishment that only a teacher can feel. Finally, my relationship with so many parents. As I add the role of parent to my LC resume, my oldest daughter Annie will attend Lexington Catholic in the fall, I am grateful for the parents that have shown me the correct way to handle adversity with my own children. This is so important in today’s school culture. Lexington Catholic has been so important to me over the years, and I am so grateful for all the relationships I have been a part of. I look forward to helping continue the tradition of excellence that has long been a part of our school.
God Bless,
Brandon Salsman '92

We are bringing Hoagies back on April 23, 2022! We want our alumni to come back home, join in, have fun and serve our community too! It is a unique, community-building, wonderful, and much celebrated LCHS tradition! Help us build our Hoagies on April 23!
History note: The first Hoagie Sales were launched in September 1977. Inspired by the promise of a hoagie holiday (half-day off from school before Thanksgiving), the student body sold over 9,000 hoagies in their first year and netted $5,300. In 2019, we sold almost 38,000 hoagies and made over $120,000.
|
|
Alums mark your calendar for April 23 to come join in the fun of this wonderful tradition and make some hoagies!
