Leucadia Streetscape Project Update - March 21, 2024
Construction along Median
Median work is scheduled to be underway as part of the Leucadia Streetscape Segment C project between La Costa Avenue and Jupiter Street. Work will include removal of the existing median curbs, pavement, debris, with grading, including tree stump removal. Intermittent shallow excavations, or “pot-holing”, will be occurring for the length of the project in order to determine the depth of the underground utilities before excavation begins.
Traffic control, such as cones and signs, will be set up within and around the construction zone between the hours of 7a.m. and 5p.m. Please expect intermittent lane shifts and lane closures, large construction equipment in the work zone, and temporary noise during this time. Drivers are reminded to follow all marked signage and travel through the area with extra caution for the safety of everyone, including crews, cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers.
It should be noted that there is one tree near Grandview Street that was originally to be removed, now can be saved and will remain in place. Five additional trees require removal due to conflicts with tree roots, and a potential not to survive if the roots are cut. These trees will be presented to the Urban Forest Advisory Committee (UFAC) on March 28, at 5 p.m. for consideration.
