LETTING GO, LETTING GOD

Photo taken in Belem, Para, Brazil  by Breno Peck

"Yet even now, says the Lord,
Return to me with all your heart,

With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;
Rend your hearts and not your clothing.
Return to the Lord, your God,
for he is gracious and merciful." -- Joel 2:12-14

In this season of Lent, when we're invited to put down whatever is weighing us down, turning our hearts instead to repentance with deliverance--one wise step will start the process. Look to Jesus.

I'm doing that today, after a writing-filled month, filling this newsletter, not with news about me--but with a prayer for us all. May it be a reminder of the privilege we enjoy. To seek Him. To pray first. To leave it be. Then let it go. Then watch Him work. "For my yoke is easy,"Jesus says, "and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:30)

A Prayer for Lent

Your grace, O God, leads us from ourselves

And our dependence upon ourselves

And our preoccupation with ourselves

And our sorrow about ourselves

And our worry for ourselves

Back to You.

Welcome us there

In the shadow of your power.

Our place of rest.

Our home for healing.

Our hospital of renewal

Our strong tower of safety.

Our school of wisdom.

Our refuge of comfort.

Our sanctuary of protection.

Then remind us after Lent

To stay right there

With You

Forever.

With His peace!

Patricia
