Jambo!
Archbishop Etienne and the Priest Personnel Board will release the official list of pastors, parochial vicars and other assignments on Friday. These assignments will go into effect on July 1st this year.
As Partners in the Gospel, we want parish life to better respond to the current needs of the Church and bring more people to know Jesus Christ. We want full Masses, people celebrating the sacraments, more social outreach, an increase in youth participation – and much more! We want to better help people deepen their relationship with Christ.
This is why we are making these changes now – so that we can be better positioned to carry out the mission Jesus gave us in the future.
As you know the journey so far, the Archdiocese of Seattle selected the parish family model for restructuring, which places 2 or more parishes under the leadership of 1 pastor and one or more parochial vicars. And on February 2nd, Final parish families were announced. We are in a parish family with St Alphonsus in Ballard, and St Benedict in Wallingford.
The new pastor for our parish family will be Father Colin Parrish, who is coming to us from St Anne Parish, and was formerly the Chaplain at Bishop Blanchet High School. Our parochial vicars will be Father Justin Ryan, who is currently and will remain the Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese. And Fr Kyle Poje, who is currently a student in Washington DC at Catholic University studying Canon Law. Father Poje will be available to us in the summer and on breaks.
Some of you may wonder what I, Father Crispin will be doing. My new assignment is as Parochial Vicar for Holy Spirit Church in Kent and St John the Baptist, in Covington. Please know that I will remain fully committed to you through July 1st.
In the meantime, we pray for our new pastor and our parochial vicars that they are graced with the Holy Spirit during this time of transition. And we are asked to refrain from contacting them before they officially arrive, so they have time to wrap up at their current parish.
We will let you know when the new pastor and parochial vicars will join us in July, and we will all have several opportunities to welcome and meet them.
I ask that we all continue praying for this renewal effort and to specifically pray for the members of our new parish family and the new pastoral leadership.
Asante Sana!
