"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty." - M. Gandhi

Taking a Moment to Reflect
This week my Saturday morning walk with my daughter took an awkward twist. I suddenly and unconsciously became aware of what side my daughter was walking on and found myself switching sides on the sidewalk. Why? To keep my eyes on the traffic that was passing by, and keep her from harm's way. I don't live in the streets of Baghdad or in a Brazilian Favela. I live in Calgary, Alberta, but yet as an Ismaili Muslim, I had this sudden uneasiness after what transpired just last week in London. Right now, In a local hospital, there's a very badly injured 9-year-old boy named Fayez who will never live to see his parents, sister, and grandmother through his life's milestones.

Salman and Madiha came from Pakistan to Canada to provide a better life for their two children Yumna and Fayez. Salman was a well-established physiotherapist working in seniors care and Madiha working on her PhD in Civil Engineering. Their lives were forever changed on a nightly family walk. My heart goes out to the departed souls, and to our little 9-year-old survivor. Fayez, there are no words to make this better but a nation of great Canadians here to help mend. IF you would like to help there are two crowdfunding campaigns set up 1) luanchgood and 2) GofundMe

I know PPDNation we stand together in the fundamental values of humanity. We stand together to protect each other from radicalized individuals and theologies. We stand together to choose love over hate. We stand together to not forget the families and the individuals who have fallen to the mania of a few who don't represent the moral fabric of society. Please consider participating in the CPA sponsored Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion research study

Wishing you great optimism on this Self-Care Sunday - stay well - @physiokarim
