Let's Worship Together!

Every Sunday, you will be able to choose to worship IN-PERSON at First UMC, continue to use ZOOM just like we have since March, or WATCH LIVE on First UMC's Facebook page. Worship will begin at 11:00 am.

IN-Person at First UMC :

Keeping our church family and community safe is our priority. When we re-open our sanctuary to in-person worship, we need your help in this endeavor:

  • please worship from home if you experience any symptoms associated with the common cold, the flu, or Covid-19 or have been exposed to somebody with confirmed infection.
  • wear a face mask covering nose and mouth at all times on campus (children under the age of 3 years are exempt) unless you are vaccinated.
  • use the hand sanitizer at the entrance.
  • follow the guidance of our ushers regarding seating arrangements, bringing offerings to the altar, communion, and the use of bathrooms.
  • maintain 6ft social distance to members outside your household at all times.
  • download the Sunday bulletin to your phone or print a copy for your personal use at home. We will also project the order of worship for you to follow during the service.

Thank you!

Worship with us on ZOOM

Please continue to worship with us on Zoom if you don't feel comfortable attending worship in person or are away from home. We will use the same log-in information we have been using so nothing changes!

⦁ Please log in 10 minutes early USING THE LOGIN INFORMATION in this email - this gives you time to make sure your technology is working properly and to focus your mind and heart on worshiping God.

⦁ We ask that you please set your microphones to 'mute.' That way you can still hear the worship service and any background noise such as barking dogs, people talking, etc. won't interrupt the worship experience.

⦁ Please do NOT announce that you have joined - Pastor Tiffany can see who joins the call and she will do a roll call at the end as well.

Thank you!

 Call to Worship

The buzz of the world interrupts our lives and fills our ears.

Call us into Your way of life, O God.

The complaints of others settle in our mind and cloud our vision.

Lead us into Your vision of life, O God.

The cries of the poor, the oppressed and the outcast pierce our hearts.

Guide us in Your example of living for others, O God.

Fill our hearts, fill our eyes, fill our ears with Your love, O God.

Let us be Your hands and feet in the world, O God.

Let us worship You together.

This is the Word of God for the People of God.

Thanks be to God.

*Returning God’s Tithes and Offerings

Gracious and merciful God, we offer our gifts to you this day with open hands and open hearts. We know there have been days when we have clung to money for our security, to try to control our future. At times, we’ve been tempted to believe that in gaining more, we would find salvation. Open our ears and minds to hear the truth from your apostle Paul: we need only hold firmly to the good news of Christ’s death and Resurrection – it alone will save us. In the holy name of Jesus, our redeemer, we pray. Amen.

*Congregational Response

We have come to worship

because we have a heart for God.

We leave to go into the world to serve those in need

because we have a heart for the city

On Mission for God: Let’s do it!

*Responsive Benediction                                     Rev. Tiffany McCall|

Remember the Good News that we have received and proclaimed this day–the Good News in which we stand and through which we are being saved.

We will remember and hold tightly to the truth we proclaim with joy!

Christ died for our sins, just as the scriptures said that he would.

But the story doesn’t end in death.

Christ was raised on the third day, just as it was promised!

We are witnesses to this Good News,

and God commands that we do not keep this news to ourselves! We will testify to all that Christ is Lord!

First UMC & John E. Ford K-8 School Collaboration

Our Outreach Ministry Team and Pastor Tiffany McCall have chosen to share God's love through monthly acts of kindness and generosity for the teachers and students at John E. Ford PreK-8 Magnet School located at 1137 Cleveland Street on the Eastside of Jacksonville.

Every month we will invite you to join us in providing love and support in a different way. We will collect and gather resources or plan activities throughout the month and then meet for a "Pack & Pray" at church to pack or prepare our monthly outreach blessing for delivery to our school.

Weekly Mission

Storytime online - nothing is as important than spending time reading to children. If you enjoy reading stories while kids listen raptly we would love for you to volunteer as a storyteller for the weekly Zoom Storytime every Tuesday evening at 6:30pm on Zoom for John E. Ford. Books are chosen from a school-approved book list

If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Tiffany McCall, Kitty McGill (herekittykitty@bellsouth.net) or Tiffney Funches (tiffney@fumc-jax.org) !
