LINK is coming... are you ready?

Juniors and families,

Today marks less than three short weeks left until juniors leave the Nest and embark on their LINK internships. This is a culmination of years of career preparation curriculum, with professional communication skills, resume development, and identifying personal interests and aptitudes being highlights in that process. Some students are striking out into a new interest of theirs, some are going deeper into what they already know they like; either way, the learnings will be rich and memorable.

This letter is to serve as a reminder for students and caregivers about the work still to be done prior to May 1st. There are a handful of students who do not have a confirmed internship still (students - you know who you are...) - please confirm with your student that they are in contact with their Mentor. Students need to begin checking in with their Mentors on a weekly basis in the run-up to LINK to talk about the following items: when are where specifically to show up for the first day of their internship, and what they need to bring to their jobsite to be prepared. Caregivers, please help ensure your student has a transportation plan to get to and from their internship location.

A major component of the internship is the LINK project. Goals of the project is that it must highlight the skills students learned during their internship, and that it benefits the organization. You can find examples of past LINK projects on the LINK website, to help start the ideation process. Students will work with Mentors to develop and execute their projects.

Students will participate in a pre-LINK workshop on Monday 4/22 during a brief period of their Core classes where we will discuss the daily tasks of their internships, namely how to fill out their timesheets to verify hours and their daily reflections that will be completed on their personal digital portfolios. Finally, we will review the requirements of the LINK presentations students will give for their TPOLs, happening May 28th - 30th.

Please reach out to me if you have questions or concerns, and thank you families for supporting your student in having an impactful LINK experience!
