Leo Fender Inducted into Orange County Hall of Fame

The Fullerton Museum Center, home of the Leo Fender Gallery, has announced that Leo Fender will be inducted into the second class of the Orange County Hall of Fame. Leo Fender, the father of the modern solid-body electric guitar, was a life-long Fullerton resident. The Orange County Hall of Fame highlights ten Orange County luminaries who have significantly contributed to the fabric of Orange County’s rich cultural, societal and professional landscape.

Restoration of Murals in Santa Ana

Carlos Rogel matches a customized paint mixture to the Monroe Elementary mural by Chicano muralist Sergio O'Cadiz. O'Cadiz created the murals in the 70s. 

Carlos Rogel is committed to the preservation of murals, having spent the last 18 years restoring murals all over the world. This year, Rogel has arrived in Santa Ana, where he is working to save faded pieces of public art with his team at MuralColors.

Applications for Dia de Muertos Artist Residency in Mexico

360 Xochi Quetzal is accepting applications for a two-week artist residency in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico. The residency will include accommodations in an ensuite studio, daily breakfast, six days of excursions to visit nearby communities celebrating Dia de Muertos, and more.

Yorba Linda Orchestra Association Awarded WESTAF TourWest Grant 

Orange County’s Yorba Linda Orchestra Association has been awarded a WESTAF TourWest grant of $3,750. TourWest is a competitive grant program funded by the National Endowment for the Arts that provides subsidies to arts and community organizations in the 13 states and three jurisdictions in the WESTAF region for the presentation of touring performers and literary artists.

Tickets are still available for the 24th OC Arts Awards, which will be held on September 24 in the Samueli Theater at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. This celebratory event brings together the entire arts community for an uplifting evening that includes an honoree and sponsor reception and dinner, an awards ceremony and an after-party for all guests.
