Ambassador Recognizes Lehman’s Human Rights Legacy

US Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, addressed the Lehman community in recorded remarks commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Lehman’s campus hosted several foundational meetings of the United Nations in 1946. In addition, Eleanor Roosevelt and the United Nations Commission on Human Rights began work on the Declaration of Human Rights on campus. Read the story.

The Education Trust's study on "The Continued Underrepresentation of Black and Latino Undergraduates at the Nation’s 101 Most Selective Public Colleges and Universities (2020)" notes that Lehman College is one of the country's 3 most accessible institutions for Latino undergraduates.

Venus Life

Under the guidance of Professor Luis Anchordoqui and Adjunct Lecturer Danijela Kyriakakis (Physics and Astronomy), students Jennifer Abreu, Nyamekye Fosu, Michael Kwakye, and Krystal Reynoso submitted a paper to the eprint server that examines the possibility of life on the atmosphere of Venus. The team's analysis is based on the cycle for microbial aerial life proposed by the MIT group led by Sara Seager. Their findings were presented at the Student Scholars Conference on April 15.
