Can you believe that we are already in the last quarter of 2016? As you can imagine, we have already begun focusing on issues that may arise during the 2017 session. Medicaid expansion, education reform, telecommunication access in rural areas, as well as healthcare will be major components of the upcoming session.
I have also received a number of inquiries about the upcoming amendments on the November ballot. My next update will cover what those amendments are and what they mean for Georgia citizens.

Agriculture Legislation
It is no secret that Georgia's Agricultural industry is key to our state's economic well-being. Here in Senate District 15 we have some of the largest, top producing farms in the state! In fact, Agriculture is Georgia's largest and oldest industry and contributes over $70 billion annually to our state economy.

In the District
Great news for our district as Governor Deal and Commissioner Knowles announce four communities in the district that have been awarded Community Development Block Grant funds. I thank Governor Deal and Commissioner Knowles for recognizing the importance of revitalizing our states rural communities.
Projects:
- The City of Geneva has been awarded $500,000 for neighborhood revitalization.
- Macon County has been awarded $500,000 for neighborhood revitalization.
- The City of Marshallville has been awarded $500,000 for multi infrastructure improvements.
- The City of Oglethorpe has been awarded $500,000 for neighborhood revitalization.
