Presbyters Share Vision of Support and Partnership Between Congregations, Ministries, and Presbytery

“Abracadabra!” rang out across the sanctuary where Presbytery of the James was conducting its 113th meeting on February 18. Explaining the word’s Hebrew meaning, Lead Presbyter Flo Barbee-Watkins introduced the new vision and model of serving happening in the presbytery as a result of the strategic plan approved in 2021.

With imagery of a team of rock climbers working in tandem, the three presbyters described their roles supporting ministers, ruling elders, Christian educators, commissioned pastors and committee volunteers. You answered God’s call to climb, but you are not climbing alone, in isolation. You are connected through our presbytery.

Wondering how to engage in and join this new vision for Presbytery of the James?

We are excited about the vision casting we have been doing at the presbytery level and are thrilled to have you climbing with us. Together, we will create congregations full of vitality, courage, and strength.

We ask you to engage in prayer and study during the Lenten season with a focus on the congregations of the Presbytery of the James. Choose to pray for each other, to sink deep into the words of scripture and to allow those meditations to bring you vitality to share inside and outside your congregation.
