OverDrive app sunsetting soon
Get Libby, the friendly face of online content
Those who use the OverDrive app to access the library’s digital collections will need to upgrade to Libby within the next few weeks. The OverDrive app is being discontinued by May 1.
The good news is Libby gives users the same access to eBooks, audiobooks, and other digital material, and it’s easier to use. Users will also be able to easily find their loans, holds, and wish list items when they sign up with Libby.
Making the switch from OverDrive to Libby is simple. Just download the free Libby app, locate your library, and sign in. That’s all there is to it! From there you’ll see your account and be able to browse our collection for more of your favorite titles.
Those with issues downloading the app or using it once it’s installed can always contact the circulation desk at 845-895-3707, or stop in and see us! You can also refer to the handy Help Section provided by Libby for more information.

Duck Derby to return May 13
Tickets will be on sale soon at the library for the Duck Derby, to be held at 3 p.m. May 13 this year, at Popp Park boat launch on Route 208 (next to Stewart’s).
Anyone who attended last year’s event will tell you it was immensely popular. Participants “adopt” a duck ($5 for one and $25 for a six quack), enter their adoptees in the May 13 race on the Wallkill River, and see if their duck is the winner! Ticket numbers correspond to the ducks’ numbered labels, so if you have ticket number 500 and duck number 500 wins, so do you! First prize is $500; second is $250; and third is $100. Sales benefit the Wallkill Senior High School’s graduating class.
The event is sponsored by Vision of Wallkill and the Wallkill High School Senior Celebration – details and rules are available on their Facebook pages.
Tickets will be on sale at the library from April 1 through May 11. If available, ducks can also be adopted the day of the race for cash sales, only.
Tickets will also be on sale April 8, 15, and 29 at various community events. For tickets or more information, you can call or text VOW at 845-325-2329 or the Senior Celebration at 845-728-0606.

Fiction Club's April selection
|
The library’s Fiction Club will be reading and discussing Sarah Perry's The Essex Serpent, for their April meeting.
Sarah Perry's award-winning novel, is set at the end of the nineteenth century and inspired by true events.
Moving between Essex and London, myth and modernity, Cora Seaborne's spirited search for the Essex Serpent encourages all around her to test their allegiance to faith or reason in an age of rapid scientific advancement. At the same time, the novel explores the boundaries of love and friendship and the allegiances that we have to one another. (Goodreads.com)
The Fiction Club will be meeting on Thursday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the library.

Leprechaun Surprise Craft and Snack Party
We’ve been busy preparing for spring in the Children’s Room…that is, until the leprechauns visited our craft supply closet!
Those silly leprechauns mixed up all of the crafts for our Leprechaun Surprise Craft and Snack Party this past weekend. Our friends did Valentines, Mardi Gras, and even Christmas crafts! The leprechauns were nice enough to leave us their secret snack recipe, which we gladly followed. We then wrapped up the day with festive balloons and party horns!

We’ve also been making some cool themed crafts, such as mosaic rainbows, craft stick leprechauns, and butterfly windsocks. You can sign-up for Crafting Caboodles to make crafts like these in-house or sign up for the take-and-make versions to do at home!
