Understanding & Explaining Dual Agency

Aug. 20 (10:30 am - 12:00 pm) Eastern

Zoom Virtual Classroom; $30

Agency has become an important topic following the NAR commission settlement, especially the understanding of dual agency, and properly dealing with inducements/gifts. Real Estate Attorney Chris Finney has seen numerous cases where Realtors (and others) failed to understand the fundamentals of agency (loyalty, full disclosure, confidentiality), and the role various professionals (attorneys, bankers, Realtors, trustees, etc.) play in fiduciary relationships (similar duties, and including duties against self-dealing). He’s even seen Judges who failed to appreciate the distinction between arm’s length (on the one hand) and fiduciary roles (on the other hand) - they are starkly different! Join Chris for a lively discussion on the fundamentals of agency – he’ll also discuss fiduciary roles, another area where there is little understanding in the real estate and financial services industry.
