Hello, HALTER Project community!
October is here! Beautiful colors, crisp nights, migrating birds dropping in and filling the air with their voices. For most of my life, autumn was my favorite time of year. And, in many ways, it still is. But it is also a month of potential chaos and trauma.
HALTER Project is a big believer in the Power of Prep, so this edition of NewsNotes has lots of info about upcoming learning opportunities, volunteer training reminders, DONKEYS(!!!) and more.
Check out the links below to learn about, register for, or schedule a training or workshop. Our list includes opportunities for first responders, volunteers, teachers and community leaders, veterinary professionals, and lovers of long-eared equines.
Something for just about everyone!

First Responder Resiliency, Inc.

Another “fall fact” is that many are coping with the aftermaths of hurricanes, flood and fire, while many more of us are also steeling ourselves for future events. Finding balance, strength and comfort can be a challenge. For all of us, including (and perhaps, especially) our responders, Disaster Burnout is a very real thing.
We are very fortunate to have a relationship with an extraordinary resource whose mission is to "Put PTSD out of business" by helping responders of every kind — and their families and partners — stay healthy and whole. Meet First Responder Resiliency, Inc, (FRR).
HALTER Project approached FRR in 2021 to develop workshops for animal disaster and welfare volunteers, veterinarians, Search Dog handlers, and others who care for animals and people throughout all four phases of disasters.

|
Our first workshop was held in person and virtually in a Sonoma County barn in February of this year. More than 100 attended, and hundreds have asked for more.
We’re so pleased to invite you to a fully-sponsored Resiliency Workshop on November 10. Attendance is offered both in person and via Zoom.
Please help us reach as many people as possible by sharing the info with vets, responders, shelter workers and rescue volunteers. See details below.

CERT training is wonderful for neighborhoods and businesses. Many regions require CERT training for Animal Disaster Volunteers.
New CERT Classes are starting soon. Go to your county’s “Ready” or “Emergency Preparedness” website, or contact your local Volunteer Center or CVNL for CERT training in your area.
If you’re in Sonoma, Southern Mendocino, Lake or Western Napa County, see below for training coming your way!
