February 2024

Connecting educators to Oshkosh Public Library's resources and services.

While the weather may have us all bundled up, we’re already dreaming about the Summer Reading Challenge! This year’s adventure runs from June 1 to Aug. 3, and we’ve planned lots of activities to keep kids learning all summer long. This year, we’re introducing program pre-registration through oshkoshpubliclibrary.beanstack.org, making it easier than ever for families to track their reading minutes online.

Interested in scheduling a school or classroom visit to learn more about the benefits of Summer Reading? Contact Marie Boleman, Head of Children’s & Family Outreach Services, for details.

There’s still time to see the 2024 Lunar New Year: Year of the Dragon symbols at the library. Swing by the First Floor Reading Room to explore a vibrant display of LEGO dragons and a colorful dragon mini mural created by artist Spencer Young. A variety of Lunar New Year cultural items are available for viewing in a display case on the Second Floor behind the service desk.

Happy Reading!

Create, read and learn at the library

On Sat., Feb. 24 from noon to 2 p.m., our Young Authors will be recognized for their story submissions during a public reception. Each participant will be presented with a copy of the Young Authors Short Story Anthology, officially making them published authors! Light refreshments will be available.

Thank you to our generous supporters:

Digital Printing Innovations (DPI) for providing printing services.

Oshkosh Area Writers Club for providing encouraging feedback to our authors.

NEW! To better accommodate families’ busy weekday schedules, we’re offering additional Read to a Dog sessions on select Saturdays at 10 a.m. in the Children’s Department.

Upcoming dates include: Feb. 24, March 9 & 23, April 13 & 27

Families can call (920) 236-5208 to reserve a time with these (very cute and friendly!) trained therapy dogs and their handlers.
