As we “spring forward” into Daylight Savings Time, we leap forward into an entertaining array of cultural arts adventures coming up this week. From art exhibition openings and spooky, space-themed films, to conversations with a New York Times Bestselling author and performances from Coronado’s own home-grown talent, there’s something to suit everyone’s fancy.

Don’t miss the opening reception for the “Cherished Memories of Our Island Art Exhibit” in the Spreckels Reading Room at the library on Sunday, March 12. This show promises a true walk down memory lane, showcasing artwork of some of our town’s most cherished historic places.

On Wednesday, March 15, Coronado Island Film Festival’s Film Forum Coronado features the showing of "Coherence," a spooky, nerve-jangling journey through the looking glass of cosmic chaos, as eight friends experience a comet passing overhead.

That same evening, New York Times Bestselling author Kristin Hannah comes to Coronado, discussing her novel, “The Four Winds.” So many are expected at this fundraiser for The Friends of Coronado Library that it takes place in our spacious Coronado Performing Arts Center.

Then on Thursday, March 16 venture back to the high school’s Performing Arts Center to watch more than 20 local artistic act competing for prizes in Coronado’s Talent, an annual fundraiser for Coronado Schools Foundation and Coronado School of the Arts.
