  • Be an effective improvement team member.

  • Apply Lean tools and methodologies to make the organization more effective and efficient.

  • Decrease the complexity of processes and eliminate unneeded steps.

  • Identify the seven most common causes of waste.

Due to the nature of the training, space is limited. Only the first 20 paid participants will be accepted.

Who Should Attend:  Anyone seeking to learn more about managing process improvement within the public sector.

What is Lean?

Lean refers to a collection of principles and methods that focus on the identification and elimination of non-value added activity (waste) in any process. Lean methods provide an alternative path to navigating tough budget pressures and customer service and responsiveness demands on public agencies.

Utilizing Lean a public sector entity can:

  • Eliminate or drastically reduce backlogs.

  • Reduce time to meet customer needs by more than 50%.

  • Decrease the complexity of processes and eliminate unneeded process steps.

  • Improve the quality and consistency of work products and activities.

  • Allocate more staff time to "mission critical" work.

  • Improve staff morale.

The Local Government Efficiency Program, (LGEP): sponsored by the Development Services Agency, in partnership with the Department of Administrative Services' Office of Lean Ohio, is offering local government the opportunity to learn and apply Lean strategies to innovate, provide better service, and save money.  To assist, LGEP is offering scholarships for this training.
