“No one is more qualified for this position or more deserving of this promotion than Lisa,” says Rob Solomon, President and Chief Legal Officer for BLT Enterprises.
“Her remarkable business insight and talent in driving our firm’s development capabilities forward make Lisa a tremendous asset to BLT Enterprises and a key member of our leadership team.”
Lisa’s career in commercial real estate is laden with accomplishments. Before joining BLT Enterprises, she served as Development Manager at Legacy Partners, where she was the recipient of the Legacy Key Award for demonstrating outstanding performance and commitment. Prior to Legacy, Lisa was the Development, Project Manager at Voit Real Estate Services. During her 10 years at Voit, she led the redevelopment project of General Motor’s 72-acre Van Nuys Assembly plant in Panorama, California. The project was a joint effort between Voit and the City of Los Angeles to redevelop and replace the manufacturing plant after GM left the city. After completion of this complex retail and industrial project, she was commended by the City of Los Angeles and the City Engineer for her exemplary efforts, efficiency, and dedication to the success of the project.
Lisa has been responsible for the completion of more than 3 million square feet of building and interior construction projects on behalf of major companies including Volkswagen, FedEx, Amazon, Frito Lay, Fremont Recycling & Transfer Station, Herzog Wine Cellars, and Goodwill, as well as the design and entitlements of over 5 million square feet of mixed-use projects including a 483-unit apartment project in Napa, California.
The CRE industry has recognized Lisa repeatedly for her exceptional leadership abilities. Most recently, the Los Angeles Times named her an Inspirational Woman for 2023, and GlobeSt.com/Real Estate Forum awarded her a Woman of Influence in 2022. She has been quoted and upheld numerous times as a thought leader and business visionary in publications and media outlets ranging from Commercial Property Executive to the “Feel the Boot” podcast and beyond.
For BLT, Lisa has made the firm a leader in development and construction best practices, including location, feasibility studies, selecting the right design team for each property, understanding regulatory conformance and entitlements, and having a “hands on” approach to project management.
“Today, there is much uncertainty with higher interest rates, recession fears, inflation, and ongoing supply-chain disruptions. Also, given the high cost of construction, it can be difficult to make development projects pencil in the current environment,” says Lisa. “Our firm targets regions that are poised for long-term stability and growth. We also develop for the long-term hold, focusing on integrating first-in-class amenities and features that will position the asset to perform well over time. Our goal is to create an environment that can evolve with tenant needs, where tenants want to lease with us for the long haul, and also to appeal to a diverse range of tenants. Our development features include good site circulation, desired building clear heights, flexible design, quality building operating systems and integrating sustainable design and energy-efficiency measures. When you approach development in this way, you are prepared to ride the ups and downs that are inherent in any real estate cycle.”
Regarding her outlook on development going forward, Lisa says, “Overall, the commercial real estate market outlook seems relatively positive, with certain asset classes continuing to perform well, and this positively impacts development now and for the future. A critical item for developers today is to budget for uncertainty and have adequate contingency for unexpected obstacles.”
