In this edition of the GoodNews Link, articles discuss the increased economic impact to $4 billion annually of Scott AFB according to a recent study produced for the Illinois Lt Governor's office. According to Col Laura Lenderman, 375th  Air Mobility Wing Commander at Scott AFB, the base continues to grow and expand many of its mission critical assets and staffing.

Many of the articles also discuss the Leadership Council's IL Senate Transportation Discussion Panel topics, including multi-modal growth, community support for the Merchants Bridge project, and reaching out to the Port of New Orleans to sign a MOU to encourage more freight flow through America's Central Port. As our region continue to enhance and promote its multi-modal infrastructure, we are seeing the many business benefits associated with this effort, including the rapid growth of the Gateway Commerce Center Warehouse and Distribution facilities.

Also featured in this edition, the Realtors Association of Southwestern Illinois and Greater Gateway Association of Realtors announced home sales in 2016 were strong with the number of sales up 7 percent across the region. The article lists the opportunities for more home building in the region. Lewis and Clark Community College's nursing program pass rates continued to climb to an 86% rate for the National Council Licensure Examination surpassing the 2016 national average for all baccalaureate and ADN programs. Congratulations on this achievement! Please read on to learn more about important events and activities occurring in SWIL...
