This edition of the Good NewsLink features several announcements about new
construction projects within SWIL. DB Schenker, a German headquartered
global logistics firm, announced it will occupy a 520,000 sq. ft. industrial
building in Edwardsville's Gateway East Business Park. This anchor tenant will
be a welcome addition to the high growth base of prominent companies already
calling this business park complex home.
Next, Impact Strategies, a Fairview Heights construction management firm,
announced the completion of two major construction projects for Ameren
Illinois located in central Illinois. Impact Strategies also recently completed
a new $15.8M Belleville Police Department Headquarters. Now, Impact Strategies
is working on the renovations to the Belleville City Hall building.
Further, the Korte Company will begin a design-build project for BJC Alton
Memorial Hospital. The new 2- story, 42,166 sq. ft. new addition to the Medical
Office Building B, located on Alton Memorial's existing campus, will be a welcome
addition and provides additional patient care facilities. A recently completed
new 9,000 sq. ft. Alton Terminus Station will enable easy access to the new
high-speed rail system connecting Alton to Chicago is scheduled to start
operations by Summer 2017.
Finally, the Manufacturing and Craft your Future Campaign continues to bring
awareness and drive young adults to career tech programs at local community
colleges. Thank you to all of the people who participate in this important community
program. The 2017 Trades Career Expo inspired students and young adults
to begin careers in the construction building trades with over 1,000 students
participating in this prominent yearly event. We also want to congratulate the
Boeing Company for expanding its St. Louis workforce by 500 new jobs.
