This edition of the GoodNews Link highlights the Scott AFB 100 th Centennial Celebration with Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner unveiling a special proclamation declaring 2017 the year of Scott AFB throughout the State of Illinois. This proclamation was the result of our 2016 Public Policy Lobby Day request to Gov. Rauner. We thank all Leadership Council members who participated in this special kickoff event!

The Gateway Commerce Center has been named by a 2016 Cushman Wakefield study as one of the top 10 hottest and rapidly growing domestic Commercial Development Sites in the country.  Also seen in this edition, the St. Louis Business Journal 2016 Year in Review recognizes the Metro East as leading in hospital developments with over $375M in project work. The region has seen two new hospital's being constructed with Memorial Hospital East and St. Elizabeth's Hospital. It is good to see such robust economic development activities occurring in Southwestern Illinois.
To help us build a strong case for our regional economic development message strategy, we need your help gathering the following information!
  1. If your business firm or a firm you know of has been continually operating and does business in SWIL currently that has a company history of 100 years or longer, we would like for you to forward us the name of this firm as soon as possible. For example, we know that Phillips 66 and Boeing are celebrating this milestone in their respective companies. This sounds easier than it has been to ensure we don't miss any of our foundational regional businesses who have been continuously operating and do business in SWIL because some to the firms may have had name changes or other situations. Please forward your suggestions to us and we will research the firms to verify the number of years. All suggestions are welcome.
  2. We would like to build a strong compendium of businesses who have been operating in SWIL and the reasons why as a business leader you feel SWIL has been a good place to operate your business. The format would be a written 2-3 page brief overview listing: short paragraph of your firm's background, business activities/customer reach, year business started, and reasons why SWIL is a good place for your firm to operate. This information will be used to help us promote great business stories operating in SWIL. Please send us your information by the end of January 2017.
Thank everyone who has submitted the above listed information! If you have information to submit, please send us an email to ensure recognize businesses who would like to participate.
