Letter from the Co-Presidents

Dear Leadership Council SMC Community,

We are energized by all that is going on at Leadership Council SMC.

We are in the midst of recruiting for the 2024-2025 Emerging Leaders and Leadership CORPS Programs. With only a few short weeks to go before the May 1 deadline, applications to date have surpassed the number of submissions as of this date last year. If you are thinking about applying, consider attending our last Information Session on Wednesday, April 24, from 8 to 9 am via Zoom (more details below). There's one application for either program, and it takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. Send yours in today!

April is Climate Resiliency Month in our Immersion Programs. With the awe-inspiring solar eclipse just behind us and the celebration of Earth Day a few days away, we're reminded of how important it is for leaders to set the tone when it comes to managing risks, advancing climate change initiatives, and addressing inequities of weather-related impacts. We are uplifted when we see the dedication and commitments that our Emerging Leaders and Leadership CORPS participants bring to Learning Days — it truly inspires us in our work.

On April 26 and 27, we will host "When Everyone Leads," an innovative, professional leadership development workshop designed for our elected leaders in San Mateo County. We'll share more about it in our next newsletter.

Our Alumni Advisory Council continues to impress us with their enthusiasm and energy. They are dedicated to helping graduates nurture the powerful professional relationships developed while in class. In this newsletter the Council's "Alumni to Alumni" message provides details about the Future Leaders Fund. If you are a graduate of Leadership CORPS or Emerging Leaders and interested in joining the Alumni Advisory Council, please email us at info@leadershipcouncilsmc.org.

Leading together,

Alumni to Alumni -- A Message

Dear Alumni,

When we think back to our participation in the Emerging Leaders and Leadership CORPS Programs, we are reminded of the many ways that those powerful experiences changed and connected us. That's why we're very excited about the new Future Leaders Fund, a fund we started to help ensure that Leadership Council SMC programs are accessible to all individuals in San Mateo County who aspire to lead.

Please give to the Future Leaders Fund today. We are striving for 100% participation. The suggested donation is $100, but your support at any level is incredibly important to ensuring others have access to Leadership Council SMC Immersion Programs, just as we did.

And your donation today is doubly impactful thanks to a generous matching gift from the Gilead Foundation. Our campaign deadline is June 30, 2024, but if you donate by May 31, your contribution will be included in the total announced at the Class of 2024 Graduation on Saturday, June 1!

Thank you to the 15 donors who have made contributions to the Future Leaders Fund of $3,650 as of Tuesday, April 9.

Please help us get to 100% participation! Donate through Leadership Council SMC's website: Select the box for Future Leaders Fund.
