Executive Director's Message - Jenny Berg
Leadership Council for Nonprofits tagline is Advancing Our Community. We stand with our community - especially our neighbors, colleagues and friends in the black community - to put an end to systemic racism, and to strive for equity, and equal justice for all.  We need to chart a new path to create and hold space for black people and people of color in every board room, at every decision-making table, and invite them to take the lead in our strategic planning (See our BOLD newsletter and how we are working on this). We need to lean into the tough conversations and questions that are uncomfortable - Why are only 8% of our nonprofit executives African American?  How does racism show up in our nonprofit work?

For my own journey, I’ve committed to GCF’s Racial Equity Matters Groundwater session on August 12, I’ve been reviewing and acting upon items from this list of 75 things white people can do, one of which is to watch the documentary “ 13th” that I watched this week. I know I can do more personally and I’m committed to help Leadership Council do more to help advance equity and justice within our community. We welcome any suggestions you have on how Leadership Council can take action to do more.
