Leaving a Legacy - Leadership Legacy Award Winners!
We are SO excited for the 20th anniversary of the Securing the Future Conference, to be held March 5, 2020. Established by the Leadership Cincinnati Class XXIV in 2001, this conference has been hosted first by volunteers, then by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, and in 2016 it transitioned to Leadership Council for Nonprofits.
To honor this outstanding legacy, we chose the theme of
The Life You Lead is the Legacy You Leave. Keynote, Barry Posner, author and co-author of many books, including
A Leaders Legacy, will discuss how leadership opportunities are presented to everyone on a daily basis. What makes the difference between being a leader or not is how we respond in the moment. What evidence exists that you are living your values and making decisions consistent with those values?
What better time than the 20th anniversary of the Securing the Future conference to establish the
Leadership Legacy Awards to shine a spotlight on our nonprofit sector. Leaders have been identified who have demonstrated great efforts to help secure the future of the organizations they serve and support, allowing these nonprofits to continue to build and secure the future of every individual, and community, they serve.
We are pleased to announce the recipients of our Leadership Legacy Awards:

This award honors an established and proven board member of a nonprofit organization in the Greater Cincinnati region who has led their organization through transformational change, weathered difficult circumstances, or demonstrated outstanding vision and achievement.
Shannon Starkey Taylor, CEO of newly formed Learning Grove, nominated two board members who were instrumental in the recent merger of Children Inc. & Cincinnati Early Learning Center "Undoubtedly, Bob’s and Lori’s combined leadership, hard work and dedication, on behalf of CI and CELC, has led not only to our transformation into Learning Grove, but also our ability to transform the lives of children and families across the region through high-quality early learning and education and support services to families."

This is a direct result of the agency’s culture, known as The Lighthouse Way, which includes 22 fundamentals that are an embodiment of Lighthouse principles, values, and behaviors. Fundamentals include seeking diversity, embracing change, and always listening to understand. There is regular messaging on the 22 fundamentals through weekly emails and discussions or activities in staff meetings.”
