EDI Advisory Committee Update
|
|
It’s been a busy and fruitful fall for our EDI team! In November, our Equity Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee met in person for the first time since 2019! We are grateful to everyone who made the time to join us. Thank you to our kind hosts at Kensington Gardens in Toronto for your generous hospitality! It was a joy to tour the building and learn about the EDI efforts underway at Kensington.
Our Advisory Committee engaged in meaningful dialogue around the progress we have made so far and discussed strategies and areas of focus going forward. Many wonderful ideas were shared, and we look forward to the work ahead!
Want to get involved? We are looking for additional representatives from LTC homes to join the Advisory Committee. If you are interested in participating, please contact mfleming@bruyere.org with a short note on why you’d like to participate.

EDI @ This is Long-Term Care
|
|
In October, we were pleased to collaborate with Omni Quality Living, to deliver a presentation at the OLTCA’s This is Long Term Care conference. The session, Partnering to Advance Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Long-Term Care was delivered by Michelle Fleming from the Ontario CLRI at Bruyère and Doneath Stewart, Director of Operations at Omni Quality Living.
The session drew an impressive group of over 60 participants eager to learn and engage in this important topic. The feedback was very positive, reflecting the impact and relevance of the discussion. It is inspiring to see so many individuals passionate about advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the LTC community. We look forward to ongoing opportunities to continue the conversation and learn together!
Did you miss the presentation? Look for the printed story in the upcoming Fall/Winter edition of OLTCA’s Magazine!

In this podcast episode, Donna Duncan is joined by two leaders in LTC who operate in culturally diverse communities. Webinar Recordings
- This session was designed for healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, policymakers, and anyone passionate about advancing EDI within palliative care.
