What kind of help is available to assist a health system in improving and expanding its existing medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) service lines?
|
|
An example of consultation activities one of our ME SUD Learning Community faculty delivered in
Western Massachusetts is below. This type of technical assistance can be adapted to the needs of a
system or a program.
The project consultant supported the Hospital’s initiative to optimize and expand it's existing
SUD/MOUD integrated service lines across its primary care practices, ED, and specialty SUD programs. Coaching and consultation were offered to key stakeholders in their hospital departments and primary care practices to develop a project charter, data metrics, and change teams. Change team leaders were supported in deploying rapid cycle improvement projects that used data (volume, wait times, show rates, continuation, revenue cycle) to create workflows, optimize outcomes across their systems, and expand and sustain the improvements.
The project included 5-8 hours of consultation per month for six months. Monthly hour coaching
sessions with the team leaders (along with as-needed additional consultation time) with document
review, policy development, and training supported the work.
The project created the integrated and expanded service lines for MOUD they desired. It demonstrates the effectiveness of coaching.
