As the IU semester comes to a close, we want to thank our interns Lizzie Wright and Shay Berry for all they've done this year for Heading Home and our region.


We are so excited for Lizzie as she heads to University of Wisconsin for law school. We look forward to seeing Shay again this fall as she continues with her Cox Civic Scholars internship at Heading Home and embarks on her junior year!

Housing Problem-Solving Training

Meet Evelyn Quigley, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for HealthNet's Homeless Initiative Program. It can take months for someone experiencing homelessness to get a traditional appointment. Read Evelyn’s story to learn how she's breaking down barriers through street medicine.

South Central Housing Network

May 9 Membership Meeting

The South Central Housing Network is comprised of regional homeless service providers and housing-centered organizations. This group meets every other month to discuss ways the region can work collaboratively to strengthen housing security.


The South Central Housing Network also has an advocacy committee that meets monthly to discuss advocacy opportunities at the local, state, and federal level.


May 13 Mini Point-in-TimeCunt

To get a better understanding of unsheltered homelessness, the South Central Housing Network is conducting a mini PIT count to make data-informed decisions to best serve individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.

March 2024 SCHN Membership Meeting at Centerstone

Lawrence County Housing Task Force

This task force was created from a Lawrence County housing needs report that Heading Home commissioned. The group is focused on implementing recommendations from that report.


The task force meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. at StoneGate in Bedford.


Heading Home Director Mary Morgan is co-chairing the Lawrence County Housing Task Force with Bobbie Ames, Executive Director of the Bedford Housing Authority.

The Lawrence County Housing Task Force is hosting a Landlord Appreciation Luncheon on June 11 to build relationships with landlords and property managers in the county.


The luncheon will take place from 11:30-1 p.m. at the Bedford Men's Warming Shelter, 1414 H Street.


Free lunch will be provided.

Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority Development Day

Collaboration in Bloomington!

On April 30, representatives from Bloomington were panelists at the IHCDA Development Day in Terre Haute, talking about how agencies work together to improve people's lives.


Panelists: Jennifer Scott, STRIDE Center Mobile Crisis Team; Danielle Sorden, Beacon Inc.; and Melissa Burgess, HealthNet Homelessness Initiative Program.

Summit Hill Community Land Trust

First Homes Ready for Move-In!

In April, Summit Hill CDC held an open house for homes in its new community land trust development on Bloomington's northwest side. Under this shared-equity model, the land trust owns a ground lease on the property, making the houses more affordable for low-income homeowners.


This project is in partnership with Clear Creek Homes.

May 7 Primary Election

Monroe County Candidate Learning Session


In April, Heading Home and regional partners hosted a candidate learning session about our region's housing crisis response system. Candidates running for a range of Monroe County elected office attended.


Local government is a big part of the solution to strengthening housing security. Thanks to all candidates who are working toward a better community for all!



Vote in May 7 Primary Election!

Monroe County has a history of low voter turnout during the primaries. We encourage you to head to the polls this election season.


The primary election on Tuesday May 7 but early voting is underway now!
