Thank you for a successful Waterpalooza event!
The Carolinas Irrigation Association hosted its 8th annual Waterpalooza at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh on Thursday, Oct. 13. Nearly 100 attendees and exhibitors participated in a full day of education and networking with other irrigation professionals from the Carolinas.

CIA was also thrilled to welcome Irrigation Association E3 winners, John Royals (educator), Nancy Hoover (learner), and Joseph Crouch (learner) from Central Piedmont Community College to Waterpalooza. A total of four students and one educator from Central Piedmont Community College will be attending the Irrigation Show & Education Week this December in Las Vegas as E3 learners and leaders sponsored by The Toro Company and CIA. The Carolinas Irrigation Association recognized Jim Garvey, CIC, of Garvey Rain Company as the 2022 Dr. Ron Sneed Friend of the Irrigation Industry Award recipient at Waterpalooza on Oct. 13.

"Jim has been a never-ending champion of our states for the irrigation Industry, and he’s never once asked for anything in return," says CIA President Clark O'Neill.

Jim has served on the CIA Board of Directors and participates in numerous CIA events throughout the year. He values being involved because "being a part of a professional organization such as the CIA provides an opportunity to increase your professional skills and become more successful."

DHS increases H-2B visa cap
The Department of Homeland Security, Washington, D.C., increased the number of H-2B visas allotted for the fiscal year 2023 by 64,716 visas October 12. According to DHS, the increase will help address the need for seasonal workers and hopefully result in a decrease in “irregular migration.” READ MORE
