COMPLIANCE CORNER

Why do we need a Compliance Program?



Healthcare compliance began emerging as a profession in the 1990s after the U.S. Sentencing Commission released its Guidelines Manual in 1991. The manual laid out the seven elements of an effective compliance program that organizations could use to develop their own programs. At this point, implementing a compliance program was strictly voluntary for healthcare organizations.


The U. S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General followed in 1998 with a release of hospital compliance program guidance. The Social Security Act and CMS have also guided compliance programs.

TACKLING FOOD INSECURITY WITH LIBERTY COUNTY COMMUNITY COALITION

At Emergency Hospital Systems (EHS), we are proud to support the Liberty County Community Coalition (LCCC) to advance the welfare of our community. The coalition recently held its quarterly meeting on March 5th at the Entergy Building in Cleveland.


During this meeting, three guest speakers shared their invaluable experiences and perspectives on Food Insecurity in Liberty County, including Christine Shippey, representing Covenant with Christ, Sophia Johnson from Repair the Breach Ministries, and Christine Swayne, representing Operation Refuge.

EHS COMMITMENT TO PATIENT SAFETY: NAVIGATING HEALTHCARE CHALLENGES TOGETHER

As we observe Patient Safety Awareness Week 2024 celebrated on March 10-16, EHS reaffirms its dedication to upholding the highest standards in patient safety.


The Top 10 Patient Safety Concerns 2024, as highlighted by ECRI and the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP), shed light on the multifaceted challenges confronting healthcare organizations today. From the transition of newly trained clinicians into practice to the ongoing challenges of preventing patient falls these concerns underscore the complexity of ensuring patient safety.

TEXAS EMERGENCY HOSPITAL HOSTS EYE-OPENING MOCK WRECK FOR TARKINGTON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

On April 3rd, students from Tarkington High School participated in an emergency response simulation for a mock car accident hosted at the Texas Emergency Room of Texas Emergency Hospital.


The program, "Forever Changed," was jointly organized by Tarkington ISD and the Tarkington Volunteer Fire Department. Its purpose was to educate students about distracted and drunk driving hazards.

Emergency Hospital Systems was honored to sponsor The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce's annual gala at the Cleveland Civic Center. This event recognizes outstanding local businesses and individuals who have significantly contributed to promoting the Chamber and the Cleveland community throughout the year.


We are delighted that Heidi Soles, Executive Assistant for Texas Emergency Hospital, was awarded the Citizen of the Year Award at the gala event. We take immense pride in her well-deserved recognition.

In addition to his entrepreneurial ventures, he is a Registered Nurse and Licensed Paramedic with over twenty-two years of experience in both public and private emergency medical service industries.

Ronna Baker serves as the Employee Health Nurse at Emergency Hospital Systems (EHS), where she plays a crucial role in ensuring workplace safety, promoting health and wellness, and managing workplace-related injuries and exposures. Inspired by her mother's nursing career, Ronna transitioned into nursing later. Discovering her true calling during clinical rotations, she wholeheartedly embraced her role as a nurse.
