Introducing

RI Seafood's Sea-to-Table

Summer Seafood Series

We have partnered with Dave’s Fresh Marketplace to bring you a Summer Seafood Series! Over the summer, we will be showcasing the diversity of local seafood in the Ocean State, as well as easy recipes you can try at home!

What is flexible consumption? Fishing, like agriculture is a specialized industry. Both industries are subject to seasonality, weather restrictions, and methods of harvest, among other things. Some species are available year-round, while others are only found during certain parts of the year. When landings for species are at their highest, is typically when they are “in-season”, like our favorite fruits and veggies! Knowing what species are available will ensure you are practicing flexible consumption.

When the practice of flexible consumption is applied to seafood, it benefits the local economy by supporting local fishermen, it reduces the percentage of imported seafood, and it ensures fresh and local species are being consumed.

Recipe of the month!

*Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have a certain medical conditions.
