Got Character?! Pirates ROCK (Raising Outstanding Character Kids) is a program designed to surround our families with examples of strong character. Each month our community and schools focus on character and leadership and students are recognized for exhibiting these traits and skills. On Friday, August 30, we kick off our 19th year of our character education program! To celebrate, wear your orange and black on Friday, join the community from 5-6:30pm at Price Chopper in Platte City for a community tailgate, and enjoy free popcorn at the first home football game! See attached flier for details. |

New parents who did not receive their new PowerSchool Access ID and Password at registration days or back-to-school nights, can either pick theirs up at future back-to-school nights (PCHS, PCMS, Platte Purchase) or look for them to come home with elementary students next week.

Online Meal Payments
K-12 Payment Center is now Linq Connect, where parents can deposit money for meal transactions. Parents can access Linq Connect through this link or when signing in to PowerSchool Parent Portal. In addition to allowing for better and faster service to students during meal times at school, the online portion of this system allows guardians to set up scheduled meal deposits or deposits to accounts when falling below a certain amount. A transaction fee will be applied based on the amount of funds added. The Fees are 3.95% of the transaction total with a $2.85 minimum to be paid by the parent/cardholder.
To set up your student's account, you'll need their student ID number, which can be found on your Parent Portal. Parents can still deposit money for meal transactions by sending payment via check or cash to their child's school.

Communication Reminders
There are several ways for parents to make sure they have up-to-date District information. This e-Treasures newsletter is sent monthly on the Friday after each Board of Education meeting, to all District families, staff, and any community member that signs up.
Another District communication medium is our School Messenger system that we use for phone calls and text notifications. As with any school district, PCR-3 must often contact hundreds of parents quickly for sudden changes in schedules due to emergencies, cancellation, or just important announcements.
If you have provided a cell phone number, parents can opt in to receive text alerts and messages. Simply text "YES" to 67587 (standard text messaging fees apply).

Pirate Pride: Treasure Chest Volunteers
For the Pirate Pride portion of the August meeting, the Board recognized Chris and Mary Donnelli, long-time volunteers supporting the District's Treasure Chest resource center. Beyond their weekly efforts to make sure the pantry is stocked with groceries for distribution to families in need, the Donnellis were instrumental in moving equipment and operations to the Treasure Chest's new location at Paxton Center.
| |
Underwriting Services Approved
At the August meeting, the Board approved the recommendation of Raymond James for bond underwriting services for the potential 2025 General Obligation Bond issuance and any possible future issuance. Per our Long-Range Facility Plan, the potential Spring 2025 Bond Issue would include completing the next phase of the PCHS Rebuild, completing site amenities at Platte Purchase Middle School, expanding parking at Compass Elementary, and completing the playground at Pathfinder Elementary.
