July 4 Spectacular

Thursday, July 4, 2024 | Veteran's Park

The 4th of July Spectacular is an annual event that is not to be missed! Join us at Veteran's Park on Thursday, July 4. The festivities will kick off at 5 p.m. with a performance from Kalyn & The New Frontier, fun family activities like face painting, freeze dance, food trucks, and much more. Swim Classes Available

The 2024 Summer Aquatics Program has recently added new classes to all four summer sessions. Two new class times have been added to the schedule, 2-2:30 p.m. and 2:40-3:10 p.m. Each session of the program will last for two weeks, consisting of eight sessions from Monday to Thursday. The cost of each session is $75. The swim lessons will be conducted at Yorba Linda High School, located at 19900 Bastanchury Rd. Get ready to shred at Skatedogs Skateboarding Camp, learn a new language at Spanish Camp for Children, or show off your skills on the court at Skyhawks Baseball and Basketball camps. For those looking for something a bit more theatrical, Youth Improv Camp will have you rolling with laughter. And who could forget about the ever-popular LEGO camps and Famous Summer Tennis camp? Adventure Playground

Ages 8-12

For over 40 years, Adventure Playground has offered summer camp opportunities to children throughout Yorba Linda and the surrounding communities. The new Adventure Playground now features a play structure, splash pad, waterslide, zipline, wiffleball field, fort building area, amongst other amenities.

Adventure Playground Summer Hours

June 17 - August 11

Reservations are required for entry into Adventure Playground Monday - Sunday. Reservations can be made online at YLRecOnline.com up to two weeks in advance for residents and two days for non-residents. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance, so same-day reservations are not accepted. Make sure you're logged into your account to be able to view available times and dates.

All days, times, and availability of certain play features are subject to change or closure.

Family Art Experience

Family ART Experience at the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center is a series of workshops designed for families to engage in art experiences and exploration together. Concerts in the Park

Sundays | 5:30-7 p.m.

One of Yorba Linda's favorite traditions is back and kicking off the summer is 4x4, playing some classic rock tunes! Come on down to Hurless Barton Park for an evening of music with family and friends. Pack a picnic dinner, or grab some tasty eats at one of the food trucks. Seating will be on the grass, so don't forget those chairs and blankets. Use of bikes, e-bikes, scooters, and skateboards is not allowed during the concert. Food trucks will be subject to availability. Don't forget your dancing shoes!

Come join us at Eastside Park to enjoy a special showing of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; Mutant Mayhem. Enjoy a Saturday evening in the park while watching a family-friendly movie on our 20ft inflatable movie screen. No pre-registration required. Make sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating and some snacks! The movie will start at dusk; approximately 8:30 p.m.

A Celebration of the Ordinary; Art Inspired by Every Day Objects

The Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center are currently welcoming art proposals for our upcoming exhibit, "A Celebration of the Ordinary," which seeks to showcase art inspired by the beauty of everyday objects. If you are an artist looking to share your unique perspective on the ordinary, we invite you to submit your work by July 19. The selected pieces will be featured in our exhibit from August 5 to September 26, featuring a gallery reception on Thursday, August 29.

All Shook Up - Casting Soon

The Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation Department is excited to partner with the Yorba Linda Spotlight Theater company to bring you the Yorba Linda Spotlight Players! Performers ages 16+ are invited to audition for our inaugural community theater performance of All Shook Up.

It's 1955, and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, this hip-swiveling, lip curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin' out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as "Heartbreak Hotel", "Hound Dog", "Jailhouse Rock", and "Don't Be Cruel."

Flexible Registration for Multi-Day Programs


Yorba Linda Parks & Recreation is excited to offer a more streamlined registration process for select multi-day activities, including Parent Toddler Art Time, Family Art Experience and some summer programs. To use the system:

  1. Sign in to your ActiveNet account at YLRecOnline.com and select "Activities."
  2. Search for the activity by course # or title. Select "Enroll Now."
  3. Select the participant you are enrolling.
  4. Use the drop-down menu to select the session time for the session you are enrolling.
  5. Select each date you would like to register for, using the calendar. Scroll between months using the arrows.
  6. After selecting all dates, select "Add to Cart" and complete check-out.

Teen Action Committee

The City of Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation Department is currently looking for enthusiastic and responsible 7th and 8th grade middle school students to form the Teen Action Committee (T.A.C.) for the 2024-2025 school year. Duties may include, but are not limited to, meet to address a variety of current key issues facing Yorba Linda youth, serve as a resource, advocate, and voice to the City regarding the teen community, plan and assist with the planning of teen events and excursions, participate in a community service project, and volunteer for City programs and special events. Teen Action Committee applications are currently available online and the deadline to apply is Friday, August 30, 2024. Sign Up for Community Emergency Response Team Training

Mark your calendars for the next CERT Training! The Yorba Linda Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills. The goal of Yorba Linda CERT is to provide citizens with the basic skills to protect themselves, their families, and their neighbors in the aftermath of a disaster. As a CERT volunteer, you can help by responding to the immediate needs of your neighborhood following an event when professional emergency responders are not immediately available to help. Chalk Art Festival

Come down to the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center for the 4th annual Chalk Art Festival! Join this free event for a spectacular showcase of talent with multiple chalk artists transforming the sidewalks into vibrant masterpieces. Witness the creation of a giant chalk mural, indulge in delicious treats from local food trucks, and enjoy live entertainment throughout the evening. Bring your family and friends for a day filled with art, food, and fun!

Alchemy Theatre Company and the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center have partnered up to bring you, Puffs or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.

For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs... who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world. Puffs is a Potter inspired comedy for anyone who has ever felt like a secondary character in someone else's story.

Puffs will be showing at the Virginia De Land theater from September 6 to September 22. Tickets will go on sale two months before show dates, starting July 6 at PurplePass.com/YLPuffs.

Part-Time Senior Recreation Leader

This is a part-time position under the general supervision of the Recreation Specialist, Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation Supervisor. Responsibilities include assisting in the daily operations of parks and recreation facilities including preparing facility and room setup, monitoring facility rentals, and assisting in the planning, organizing, implementing, and leading a variety of recreation activities, and special events for youth, teen, adult, and the older adult population.
