NJ in Top Ten: New Jersey moved up to 10th in the nation for its percentage of women in the legislature when Eliana Pintor Marin was sworn in to the Assembly last week. Marin took the seat of Albert Couthino, who resigned on September 11th.

Defeat in NYC: New York City's only female mayoral candidate, Christine Quinn, was defeated in the city's Democratic primary. Journalist Jill Colvin investigates her fall from frontrunner status.
