130th Cherokee Strip Celebration

Circle the wagons and slip on your spurs... it's almost time for the annual Cherokee Strip Celebration! September 16, 1893, The Cherokee Strip Land Run marked the opening of the Cherokee Outlet with an estimated 100,000 participants hoping to stake claim to part of the 6 million acres and 40,000 homesteads opened for settlement. It was Oklahoma's fourth and largest land run as well as the largest land run in the history of the United States.

We hope you will join us for this traditional event which celebrates Enid's unique history and continued growth. It would not be possible to host such a spectacular event without the support of our Chamber partners and event supporters. The parade entrants and participating vendors are the heart of the celebration and of course the thousands of people who gather to enjoy the festivities make it all worthwhile. Help Welcome New Student Pilots, Enlisted Personnel & Families To Enid

At Vance Air Force Base, every three to four weeks, a group of 25-30 student pilots begin flight training and every two months, a group of 8 -12 enlisted men and women begin active duty at VAFB. The city of Enid is looking for community partners to welcome student pilots, enlisted men and women and their families to Enid.

Mackie Planetarium to Showcase New System

The newly renovated Mackie Planetarium at Northern Oklahoma College Enid will showcase its new projection system during a ribbon-cutting event on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023.

The event is sponsored by Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce and will begin at 6:30 p.m. A planetarium show will follow at 7 p.m.

The planetarium will be demonstrating its new projection system.

Home Sales Holding Their Own Locally

ENID, Okla. — Existing-home sales slipped nationwide in June, according to National Association of Realtors. Sales varied among the four major U.S. regions, with the northeast experiencing gains, the midwest holding steady, and the south and west posting decreases.

All four regions recorded year-over-year sales declines. Carolyn House, CEO of Northwest Oklahoma Association of Realtors, said sales have slipped some but very little in this area.
