Enid Day at the Capitol was held on March 5th at the John D. Groendyke Wildlife Building in Oklahoma City. About 50 Enid attendees met with Rep. Chad Caldwell, Rep. Carl Newton and Senator Roland Pederson. Discussion topics included tax cuts, higher education consolidation concerns and reducing the incarceration rate through increased mental health and substance abuse services.
Lt. Governor Matt Pinell spoke to the group regarding the increased number of Texas citizens moving to Oklahoma citing our state's economic climate and quality of life as key factors. "We always appreciation Lt. Governor Pinnell and our local legislators attending and speaking to our group," said Enid Chamber President Jon Blankenship.
Leadership Greater Enid Class XXXIII attended as well. The Enid group also heard updates from ODOT Chief Engineer Brian Taylor, Oklahoma Historical Society Director Trait Thompson and Amber Sharp from the Oklahoma Arts Council.
